My bilingual experience since childhood is quite an eye-opener for me when I had to translate for my ama (mom) everywhere we went. She took me everywhere… to the grocery store, bank, doctor’s office, and I loved it!
I’m glad my mom took me along because it made me realize that you don’t always have to say, “my mom said…blah blah blah”. Proper translations are always in the first person and it’s difficult to master… when you’re only 6 years old… LOL.
