To make my card for the hop, I broke out with some stamp sets that had a thick layer of dust on them (LOL).  No, seriously I can’t remember when the last time I used them.  Wait, I remember now, I used them this week to make my blog hop card.

Happy Easter

I haven’t used the Flower Shop stamp set or the Pansy Punch in quite a while and since the Spring reminds me of so many pretty flowers (along with my horrible allergies) I thought it would make the perfect Spring/Easter card.  Teeny Tiny Wishes has been my go-to sentiment since I became a demonstrator almost five years ago.  The Pansy’s were stamped on the free with purchase Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum Stack.  It’s what gives it the shadow that comes through the paper.  I also punched the matching cardstock and layered it underneath the vellum to prevent the images from being washed out with the whisper white.  The card looked a little plain when I finished it, so I added some sequin from the 2013-2015 In-Color Assortment that is still available in the Clearance Rack…lucky you.  For a couple bucks, I’d grab a few because they’ll definitely last a very long time.  Come back in a couple days because I’ll be giving away TWO packs of the Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum Stacks as blog candy.

Thanks for visiting. To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below. We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!

I Lava You – Crazy, Mixed-Up Love

Love

I'm crazy about the Crazy, Mixed-Up Love stamp set!  It is perfect for use on Valentine's Day too!  Did you know that a simple handmade card lifts up the human spirit better than spoken words or emails?  I know this from my own personal experience.

But did you also know that "handmade cards are generally cheaper to make or purchase than store bought cards?" (M.J. Meeker/view full article here).  Which of course… that's where I can show you how.  Read more

Love

As you go about your day today think about who can use a pick me up with a handmade card.  Trust me skill is NOT necessary.  I am always amazed at how people think you need some kind of mad paper talent to do this.

You learn as you go and start off small.  Me, I use oodles of card/sketch challenges like the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge… I'm always afraid of 'color challenges', but how else am I going to learn?

Sweet, Sweet Moments

PPA Pick

PPA166

The sweet moments spent making a card are worth every minute.  My co-workers are amazed at how much I talk about Stampin’ Up!.  They even think I’m a little crazy about it and guess what?  I am… LoL.

This little hobby of mine has grown into a toddler.  My retired stamp sets are starting to move, just like I imagined.  Thank you so much to those of you who are viewing them and buying them one at a time.  If you want to see them… click here.

PPA166 Color Challenge

Oh, color challenges scare me.  I heard you ask, “WHY!”  Because it means I have to come up with the sketch on my own… LoL.  It can take me hours to come up with something, that’s why!  But I supposed that’s why I like and prefer clean & simple.  This is why I took a stab at the Pals Paper Art 166 Color Challenge.

If you could do one thing that scares you… what would it be?  Enlighten me by leaving a comment below. =)

At the end of the day we had a unit morale night with pizza from Pizza Hut and some really good BBQ chicken our Superintendent cooked up along with many sides.  It sure was yummy than the average food we eat at the dining facility!

What was the difference?  The food we BBQ’d had flavor and it was seasoned perfectly!  I’ll never take spices for granted… LoL.

A ‘Note’-worthy Happy Birthday

Have you ever started a card and it just won’t mold to what you wanted to make?  That’s what happened with this card.  I finished it late last night, and I wasn’t one bit happy with it.

Then came morning and as I glanced at it… guess what!?  I fell in love with it.  So, if you don’t love a card made before bedtime don’t worry, sleeping on it changes everything-LoL.  No, you won’t feel like having a cigarette either. (I heard you laughing).

If you discovered you could only make one card with your supplies on hand… who would you make a card for?

All morning I’ve been thinking about my grandma who went to Heaven 33 years ago, Magdalena aka Mi Nena.  She was the first ‘old’ person I remember as a three year old… LoL.  She would write in the dirt for me, something I’ve never shared until now.

When I was between eight-10 years old, I’d spend school holidays with her and she watched the world through my eyes as I made mud pies.  I was her mental scrapbook, sort of speak. =)  She would sometimes draw messages in the dirt for me to read.

They said stuff like, “Mi Nenita” / “My Maggie”, (which was my childhood nickname)… I was named after her.  Other times she would draw a smile.  Those where the cards she made for me, which now live my heart forever.

Now on to the card.  The sketch is brought to you by Clean & Simple Stamping – Fall To Layout 251.  It’s a cute sketch and since I’m on a roll right now with challenges… I knew I just had to try it!

I’m still not sold on my color choice, but it’s still pleasing to the eyes… what do you think?  Is the color combo okay for your dreamy eyes?  LoL.

March Pals Blog Hop: Get Ready for Spring

Thank you for joining us for the March Pals Blog Hop! Today the Stampin’ Pretty Pals are excited to share new ideas and projects to get you ready for spring.

You should have just left the sizzling hot stop number 12 on the Pals Hop – Brian King at Stamp with Brian.  If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Bloomin' into Spring1

I currently live in a Golden State and I have also lived in the Beehive State, the Old Line State, and the Garden State.  My favorite visits have been to the Aloha State and the Sunshine State.  My card reminds me of the rich colors of those states and the memories made living in each one.  May you have a bloomin’ marvelous day in which ever state you live.

If you are wondering how banners are made, don’t worry you do not need a special tool to make them.  Cut out strips of paper measuring at your desired length.  Then simply snip the ends in a “V”.  You can mark them with a pencil on the side that will not show.  Yes, it’s that easy.

Interested in receiving this blog candy below?  I am giving away to a lucky winner the Petite Curly Label Punch and the Pretty Petites Stamp Set that can only be awarded from Stampin’ Up! after a $100 order during Sale-a-Bration.  How generous is that???

To enter to win simply click on the egg below and leave a comment by 6 PM CST on Thursday, March 14.  One recipient will be chosen at random from the comments received and the runner up will receive the card.  The blog candy recipients will be announced on Friday and the winners will need to email me their mailing address within 24 hours.  Good luck everyone! =)
