A Very Merry Pals Paper Arts

Christmas

Happy Thursday everyone and welcome to another Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge.  This week I’m hanging out with the husband in New Orleans.  We started the day off with brunch at Stanley’s and then we walked off the thousand calories of food all over the French Quarter.  Oh my how I love this beautiful city and the food is icing on the cake.

Pals Paper Arts ChallengeI like being different and that is why I chose to make a non-traditional Christmas card with the color challenge colors this week.  I showed it to my husband and he said it reminded him of the fires we had in Northern California. I would love to see what you can come up with….1, 2, 3….go!

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Glittery Snow.  I learned this technique from a fellow Pal who learned it from someone else.  I took a few drops of Tombow glue and mixed it with a few drops of water and put it on a I then used a small paintbrush and flicked it on the paper.  I took the glitter and poured it over the image, as you when you embossing.  That’s how the glittery snow was created. I know someone made a video and as soon as I find it, I’ll post it of you.

Sweet, Sweet Moments

PPA Pick

The sweet moments spent making a card are worth every minute.  My co-workers are amazed at how much I talk about Stampin’ Up!.  They even think I’m a little crazy about it and guess what?  I am… LoL.

This little hobby of mine has grown into a toddler.  My retired stamp sets are starting to move, just like I imagined.  Thank you so much to those of you who are viewing them and buying them one at a time.  If you want to see them… click here.

PPA166 Color Challenge

Oh, color challenges scare me.  I heard you ask, “WHY!”  Because it means I have to come up with the sketch on my own… LoL.  It can take me hours to come up with something, that’s why!  But I supposed that’s why I like and prefer clean & simple.  This is why I took a stab at the Pals Paper Art 166 Color Challenge.

If you could do one thing that scares you… what would it be?  Enlighten me by leaving a comment below. =)

At the end of the day we had a unit morale night with pizza from Pizza Hut and some really good BBQ chicken our Superintendent cooked up along with many sides.  It sure was yummy than the average food we eat at the dining facility!

What was the difference?  The food we BBQ’d had flavor and it was seasoned perfectly!  I’ll never take spices for granted… LoL.

Stampin’ Up! Perfect Pansies

PPA Pick

I used the Flower Shop to create these beautifully gorgeous perfect pansies! They are a beautiful addition to any project. The Flower Show Stamp Set coordinates with the Pansy Punch and once you try them… you are going to fall deeper in love with them.

Funny thing though… I’m not much of a flower girl, but this set I just had to have because you can get it as a bundle.  Check it out right here!

This card is brought to you by Pals Paper Arts 164 Sketch Challenge.

[one-half-first]

To give the pansies a little pop, I simply used Stampin’ Dimensionals on two of the flowers. The dimensionals really give them that 3-D pop. They look absolutely fantabulous.

A couple of days ago, I shared how my sense of time was a bit off, but now I am back on track and boy did this week fly by!  I’m at the mid-way point of my tour and time is speeding back up again for me… yayyyyy.

However, there is one thing that has me going through various emotions this week. I’m missing out on Stampin’ Up!’s yearly convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.  It’s our 25th Silver Anniversary and from what I’m reading on Facebook, it’s a blast!  Everyone is receiving so many awesome goodies and I feel so left out.

But my Pals have pulled through form.  My Pals took a picture of me from my last deployment and have carried it around and taken pictures and shared it on our private Facebook page.  I feel so loved that they have taken time from their fun to honor me.

Here my picture is on a chair to honor me at the Convention.  Boy, do I feel so loved.
Here I am with Ronald McDonald.  Stampin’ Up! partners with Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) to bring comfort and creativity to the lives of Ronald McDonald House guests. Each year, thousands of families stay at more than 160 independently operated Ronald McDonald Houses in North America.  These Houses serve as temporary homes for the families of seriously ill children who are being treated in nearby hospitals.  See the special stamp here

Stampin’ Up! Two Challenges with One Card

FMS Princess Badge

Seems these colors have become my favorite lately.  What perfect timing to use my favorite colors in not just one, but two card challenges… Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge #132 and {Freshly Made} Sketches! #29 This is the first time I used the water coloring paper and it works great when you are coloring in stamp images.  I think you will LOVE it too.

Do you think my card hits the mark?

Maggie Made Tip:  To give a suttle pop to a card that is clean and simple add a button and see it come to life.

Blog Candy:  Don’t forget… I’m still trying to give away some blog candy.  Click HERE to see posting.  I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to give it away for FREE.  Will you help me?
