Wood You Get Better… Quick

My administrative tech became ill a few days ago and I felt so horrible for him, so to help brighten his day, I made him a quick and easy get well card.  I used the Woodgrain background stamp… yes I love it so much I brought it with me.

I thought I’d be funny and on the inside I wrote, “Wood you please get better. =)”  Being a guy I didn’t want to make it a foo-foo card and the woodgrain background made it perfectly masculine!  Woot woot!

This stamp gives any project that natural wooded look without having to sacrifice a tree… LoL

A quick paper punches with the Modern Label and Window punch made my card complete!  Oh and my tech was much better today.  He’s back and work and I must now let him know how much he is appreciated!  Thank you so much for visiting my paper journey.

Sympathy for a Pet

With Sympathy1 1652013

I made an almost exact duplicate of this card a few weeks ago.  You can see it here.  Many of us tend to give this card to someone who has experienced a loss in their lives, but these cards should also be given to someone who has lost a dear pet.

Pets, after all are also a part of the family.  Whether the pet is a dog, a fish, a cat, or a hamster, we become attached to them and love them just as much (and in some cases more) than humans.

My deployed life has slowed down some this week and I only made two cards.  Ever since I completed the education piece to my career, I have yet to build up a schedule.  My next priority is getting fit to run a half marathon… but my head has not yet fully committed, so for now I will start with a 10K on Fourth of July.  I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.

I’m not a runner and to be honest, I don’t look forward to running.  I have runner’s knee and I’m simply getting old… LoL.  But it’s a commitment I kind of made to myself (so I wont feel guilty if I break it)… hahaha.  My goal is to run with a friend once I get home. She’s a dedicated runner and I just once want to run with her before I move next summer.  Her name is Michelle and she follows my blog.  She went from barely reading it to keeping up with me while I’m deployed.  So… here’s to you MICHELLE P.!

Stampin’ Up! a Love You

I am in love with the new Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series paper.  Talk about happy, bold, and bright all in one set of paper!  I sent this one home just the other day, but I won’t say to whom because my family keeps up with my blog.  I send my whole family a card, but with this one… I’ll let them be surprised… LoL.

This card layout is brought to you by Pals Paper Arts 161 sketch challenge

I embossed the scallop with one of the Mosaic Madness stamps in Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder.  The silver heart was punched out with the tiny heart from the Two Step Owl punch.

Really!?

Yes, really!  This card was an inspiration of what kids say a lot now a days.  But they say it with an explanation point not a question mark… LoL.  There’s a very hardworking young man that works in my office and each time I do or say something that he thinks is funny this is his favorite line… Really!

I don’t think I’ve made a card in a long while that doesn’t have Designer Series Paper on it.  So, I surprised myself with this one.  It’s simple, it’s cute, and it makes a young generation statement.

What word(s) stand out in your mind of what you said in your or your children’s childhood?

Stampin! Up! Gee, Thanks + Give-a-Way

Gee Thanks 1

I love this particular stamp… why?  Because it reminds me of how my son would say it to me.  The heavy font adds a little more emphasis and gives it a jovial sound.

A perfect card to give to someone who has completely surprised you with a gift you were least expecting.  This is how I felt when Stampin’ Up! let me keep an extra My Paper Pumpkin  kit they accidentally sent to me.  I called them to let them know they sent an extra one and I needed to send it back.  I shouted, “GEE,THANKS!” when the representative said I could keep it.

So, what am I doing with it?  I’m giving it away!  I’m in a giving mood and I want to send it to someone who would love to try the kit.  To win it all you have to do is leave me a comment below and tell me why you wan to try it.  A winner will be selected on Monday, May 17th via my Facebook page.

Gee Thanks 2

Seriously though… while deployed I’m completing my professional military education.  It’s a little military education your recruiter doesn’t tell you about.  It’s painful, lengthy, and you just want to get it over with.

Yet in the end, you are so glad you finished it because you get a better understanding of why the Air Force exists.  Like the card… you experience a Gee, Whiz moment.

The greatest outcome of finishing your military education is that you become eligible to meet the promotion board. Doesn’t mean you’re going to get it, just means your can go up against your peers.  My board meets next month… wish me luck.

Go on get the stamp set and the paper… you are going to love it!

Quick Birthday Wishes!

Recently, I posted to my Facebook fans that I had stopped giving away free product because I didn’t feel there was a large enough interest in it.  One person, Ms. Maureen left me a message that was funny, so right then and there I decided to give her a My Paper Pumpkin kit.

She is a faithful subscriber to my blog and Facebook page and I wanted her to know how much I appreciate her.  Although I enjoy your comments, my blog is all about what I can do for you!

This card was made for a co-worker (at my deployed location) that was signed by everyone.  Inside it said, “Recent studies show that people who continue to have birthdays… live longer.”  Hilarious… why?  Because it’s so true.
