Oh Happy Day…

Happy Day

As I cleaned out my craft room to make room for all my new catalog goodies, I decided to stop and make this cute card that reminds me of watermelon Jolly Ranchers.  Does it remind you of anything?

Happy Day

I put the two layers of card stock on Stampin’ Dimensionals to give the card a little bit of  2-D effect.  It’s just so cute I tell ya.

Happy Day

So, all I ask of you is to share this card with someone whom you feel needs a little bit of happy.  Tell them that you thought of them  and wanted to wish them a happy day.  I would love that and it would make my day.

Belated Birthday Vase

Belated Birthday

With my son graduating from high school in June I am flooded with his childhood memories and this card brings back one in particular.

How can vases with flowers remind me of my son’s childhood?  Here’s the story…

When he was 7 years old he went with me to the grocery store with me and while we were shopping he asked me if he could go get something.  He said it was right around the corner and begged to be right back.

He was gone for one minute and as he ran up to me I noticed he was hiding something behind his back.  With a big cheesy grin on his face he said the following as he thrust forward a bouquet of flowers…

“Mom, if I had a job this is what I would buy you.”  I had instant tears in my eyes because of his thoughtful nature.  So, I bought them for him and he gave them to me when we got home.

With this sweet story in mind please view the video at the bottom of this post.

Belated Birthday

Lesson Learned:  Stamp images like this vase stamp on your favorite designer series paper, snip each vase just slightly inside the lines and glue the cut out vase to the main image.  It will surely add a whole new visual to the image itself.

A MUST SEE!

I’ve been a mom for 19 years and I know the requirements firsthand.  In turn, my mom definitely has the world’s toughest job too!  I have already started making her Mother’s Day gift… made of paper of course! =)

Please leave a comment below… tell me what you think of the video?

The whole purpose of this blog is to share my simple handmade cards with as many people as possible and I can’t do it without your help, so go on and share.

If you could pass post this post along to at least one friend
who you know has the world’s toughest job, I will be grateful!

Cycling a Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday

This is NOT a last minute birthday card, but you know what!?  When I made it last week, I whipped it out in no time at all.  It’s always a very good idea to be able to pull a card sketch out of your back pocket for those “oh em gee” moments when you realized you need a card in a hurry.

Do you have a go to Designer Series Paper, stamp, or framelits for those uh oh moments?

Happy Birthday

Lesson Learned: I didn’t have the background Everything Eleanor stamped image in a framelit, but just I did happen to have the smaller framelit version (one of my favorites) and so all I did was trim it with my paper snips.  They look perfect together and the White Stazon brings out the richness of the dark Elegant Eggplant cardstock… almost antique looking.

A ‘Note’-worthy Happy Birthday

Have you ever started a card and it just won’t mold to what you wanted to make?  That’s what happened with this card.  I finished it late last night, and I wasn’t one bit happy with it.

Then came morning and as I glanced at it… guess what!?  I fell in love with it.  So, if you don’t love a card made before bedtime don’t worry, sleeping on it changes everything-LoL.  No, you won’t feel like having a cigarette either. (I heard you laughing).

If you discovered you could only make one card with your supplies on hand… who would you make a card for?

All morning I’ve been thinking about my grandma who went to Heaven 33 years ago, Magdalena aka Mi Nena.  She was the first ‘old’ person I remember as a three year old… LoL.  She would write in the dirt for me, something I’ve never shared until now.

When I was between eight-10 years old, I’d spend school holidays with her and she watched the world through my eyes as I made mud pies.  I was her mental scrapbook, sort of speak. =)  She would sometimes draw messages in the dirt for me to read.

They said stuff like, “Mi Nenita” / “My Maggie”, (which was my childhood nickname)… I was named after her.  Other times she would draw a smile.  Those where the cards she made for me, which now live my heart forever.

Something Worth Celebrating

This year’s new designer series paper (DSP) is fantabulous!  That’s fantastically fabulous in one word… it’s not a new word, but it’s the best way to describe the fabulous Birthday Basics designer series paper.

It’s definitely one set of DSP you just have to have.  Get your paper during July and take advantage of the buy 3 get 1 free deal here.

Ever since the Fourth of July my sense of time has been a little off.  If you missed that post, you can read it here.  I think it has to do with Fourth of July having been on a Thursday and now last Thursday felt like a Friday and on Friday it felt like a Wednesday… does that make sense?

I was once told that the first three months go by really fast and I didn’t believe them, but now that I’m a week away from my three months, I think it’s true. LoL.  Good thing for me… I concentrate on the time I have left to stamp.

It feels weird counting in days… think I’ll switch to weeks… LoL.  Wait!  This is still week one, but it’s going by so fast I can’t believe it!  When this happens, it’s because you have a GREAT boss!  His laughter is contagious and he is so positive and outgoing.  Oh wait, I just described myself… I’m laughing hysterically.  But I’m being serious now… my deployed boss has got to be my lucky number THREE best boss in the world in adult working life!

I’m going to have to record his hearty laughter and keep it as a pick me up on the days I’m feeling blue.  But I have a feeling I won’t be feeling blue anytime soon.  My Stampin’ Up! Pretty Pals are on the ball and are sending me cards to decorate my room.  If you haven’t liked my Facebook page, then you don’t know what my room looks like do you!  Like me NOW and continue my Paper Journey here.

As some of you know, I love sending cards (duh)… but I especially love sending cards to my subscribers who list their mailing address and birthday.  If you got this one, please feel free to leave a comment and tell my sweet readers who you are.

A Lucky Scallop Birthday

Green Bday Card1

Just like my last post (Sweet Birdie Birthday Tweet) sometimes clean and simple (CAS) cards are easy, but sometimes they aren’t.  Unless of course, you have great stamp sets that make CAS cards quick and easy!  The Decorate a Daisy stamp set with some Versamark and Basic Black ink does the trick!

The Petite Pairs stamp set is one of my must haves for any occasion.  It’s taken me a very long time to find my style and now that I feel comfortable with it, I’m sticking to it!  I hope you enjoy my cards as much as I love making them.

Which Card Had a Smudge & Blog Candy

I made four 3 x 3 cards that will show you just how quick & easy it is to make some really cute cards.  I used nothing but scraps to put them together.  I used the Wishes Your Way Stamp set from the Spring Catalog.  Don’t have a catalog… I give mine away for free!  Click HERE to get yours NOW!

I have often heard that there are no mistakes in stamping.  I must confess… it’s so true!  When I first made these cute cards I messed one up.  I accidentally got too ink happy and smudged the outline of one of the sentiments, but I covered it up with a strip of DSP.  You can’t even tell can you?

I LOVE YOUR COMMENTS:  Tell me how you fix your smudges.  I’m also giving away some blog candy to one lucky winner.  I have some very beautiful retired designer series paper I’d like to give to you.  But it’s a surprise grab bag because it’s up for grabs…. LoL.  Go on you know you want it… leave a comment and tell me how you fix your smudges?  Winner will be announced on Saturday afternoon.

Spring Catalog Flower Trim

When I first saw the cute flower trip I had absolutely no idea how I was going to use it on a card. But when putting this card together I wanted to use the doily, yet keep it clean and simple. You think I met the objective?

Paper Doily Sizzlets Die

This doily can be used whole or can be cut in any way you want to reshape it to your desire.  The sentiment is from the Sweet Essentials stamp set.

A Twitterpated Sale-A-Bration

How much more simple can this cute little simple layout get?  I cut out this very pretty and delicate Paper Doily Sizzlit (125592) when the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (DSP) was first announced and shown to us.  I just put it in my pile of “use it later” scraps and tonight I figured I should start using my scraps to make quick & easy cards.

The Old Olive button came from the Brights Designer Button (119747) and was added just to add a little simple dimension and depth to the lace.  I fell a few weeks behind on my birthday cards and decided I would show you how to quickly throw a simple card together that had little bits of bright colors.

I added a peak of the Pretty Petites Stamp Set (C129642/W129639) that you could earn for FREE with any $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration.  If you buy $100 worth then you can get the complete bundle, which includes the Petite Curly Label Punch (129405).  It comes with a total of EIGHT mini stamps, which if you think about it, translates to an additional EIGHT different cards.

A close up of the Paper Doily shows off it’s intricate cuts and fascinating twirls.

Blessings to you and thank you for stopping by.  Be on the lookout for more Blog Candy this month.  I’m fixin’ to clean out my stash of Stampin’ Up! paper.
