Father’s Day Bowtie & Cumberbun w/How To Video

Father's Day

Seems like for the last two years my Father’s Day cards are made last minute.  Well, I’ll tell you what, when the men in my life receive this card they will love them!  Simply because I made it with my own two hands.

One of my brother’s even carries last year’s card with him everywhere he goes.  He doesn’t know I know (he does now) that I have seen last years card (view it here) in his portable work clip.  That makes me so happy.

The card below is for my Father.  I made his a different color because simply said, he is the best DAD in the whole wide-world. =)

Father's Day

As you know, I have a full-time job and not only is my time limited for paper crafts, but I don’t like the extra fluff that surround some videos, so I’ve decided to start making KIS-S videos that will last no more than one minute!

Keep It Simple!  Straight and to the point when I want to show you how simple it really is to make a handmade card.

Please let me know if I hit the mark and leave a comment either here or on my YouTube channel.

Thank you for visiting me today.

A Feliz Aniversario!

Anniversary

Seems many people I know are celebrating their wedding anniversaries… this card is for you.  A big shout out to Alfred & Leticia Mata and Mark & Shannon Sabroski.  May your marriage be as happy and loving as the first day you fell in love.  Happy Anniversary in Spanish… LoL.

My deployment is winding down and with it is my time to make cards.  Maybe that's why the next two and a half months are going to fly by.  I've ordered the new Envelope Punch Board and I can't wait for it to arrive, so I can show you the wonderful personalized envelopes I'm going to make.

  • It creates totally customizable envelopes in up to 66 different sizes (not to mention a million different color and pattern options depending on the paper you want to use). Even tried and true envelope sizes will only take you moments to create!
  • It makes envelope liners too!
  • It's small and lightweight; it's super portable and easy to store. It's small and light enough that you could use it while watching a soccer match, at a park, at a friend's for craft night-anywhere.
  • It even has a slick scoring tool as well as a punch that lets you create rounded corners on your envelopes.
  • It's easy to keep it all together; the stylus storage compartment and two punches are designed into the tool so you don't have a bunch of little pieces to keep track of (even the instructions are printed right on the tool so you won't lose them!).
  • The price is terrific-especially for a tool that does so much!  It will be only $19.95.
  • Send me an email with your name and email address and I will reserve one for you.

Clean & Simple Grateful Heart

Grateful1I always read that we should be grateful for what we have instead of thinking of what we don't have.  Life is much more enjoyable and it creates a happiness like no other.  It's so true and this stamp captures the feeling of being grateful.

I may be 6K+ miles away from the USA, but know that this blog has allowed me to keep in touch with so many of you.  I am truly grateful for your kind emails, cards, care packages, and prayers.  You are the reason why I keep this blog going.

FTL252

The card layout is brought to you by Clean & Simple Stamping #52 sketch challenge.  I fell in love with the sketch so much I made a small batch of these cards to send out to my loved one's while on this deployment.

Today started of hot, as the day went by it stayed hot, when I left work for dinner, it was still hot.  The 80/20 rule came to life and I have yet to grow tired of it.  It keeps me on my toes and challenges me to come up with better ways of maximizing my time and efforts to ensure that the 20% of what matters keeps going.

Did I lose you? LoL… I lost myself too.  The 80/20 rule is Pareto's Principle and can be applied to anything in life. Long story short, being aware of this rule will help you stay focused with the 20% of the stuff that matters most.

Thank you so much for visiting me today.  I know you have a busy day and could be doing something else instead of coming all the way down to the bottom of the post… LOL… know that I am grateful you have stuck with me this far down. =)  Have a very beautiful wonderful Friday.  Enjoy your weekend.

The Golden “M”

This is my second monogramed card I’ve made so far… you can see the first one here, only difference with this one… is that this one is for me!  LoL… I make cards as I need them and sometimes things happen that prevent me from making a personalized card on the spot.  So having a set of monogramed cards will help me during those times.

CAS-ology Week 54 - Gold

The card was also inspired by the CAS-ology Cue Card challenge and their only suggestion was “gold”.  So, I broke out with my gold embossing powder and champagne glimmer paper which is more gold than anything else.

For news on my side of the world is at a stalemate.  The weather has been too hot to handle to be outside for long periods of time.  I call it lung hot weather.  The warmth of the air actually makes one feel like your lungs are sweating on the inside with each breath.  LoL.

I tend to stay indoors and running outside is for truly dedicated runners who think 100+ degrees is all a mind set.  I’d rather stay inside a cool room and read, make cards, or watch movies.

I did venture out on my day off today, and I lasted about 1.5 hours in the shade.  I was brave enough to walk to the Pizza Hut that is inside of a trailer (kind of like a semi truck hauler) and sat on the patio outside the watering hole called Pete’s.

There is even a Burger King on base, but since the only hamburgers I eat are from Five Guys or In-n-Out, I’m afraid to try them here… LoL.

Don’t forget to stay tuned for your chance to win a Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine!!!

Clean & Simple: Pursuit of Happiness

I wish so bad you could see the new contest going on with the Pals.  Clean & Simple is the name of the game and this was my design.  It’s really a common card made by so many, but I think it’s classy.

Why can’t you see the contest and all we have to share? =(  Because it’s private and only open to Pals.  I see many of you in my future though… LoL.  My Circle of Pals welcomes anyone!  Yes, anyone!

Today marks my 24th Air Force Anniversary and I am beside myself wondering where all the time went.  I remember at 10 years my mom said to me, “You’ve been gone for 10 years, is it time to come home?”  What did I say?

If the answer wasn’t obvious… I said, “…but mom I’m having so much fun.”  LoL.  I went around the world twice before the age of 20.  When people ask me where I have traveled to my response is, “Gosh, it would be easier to tell you were I haven’t’ been.”  (this is where my AF career flashes before me in less than 5 seconds).

As time comes closer and closer to retirement (someday), not yet though… I’m still having fun… LoL, I know what I will be doing after that.  I will be on top of the World with Stampin’ Up!

Stampin’ Up! For You

Have you ever received a package and you get all caught up in the excitement of tearing it open because you feel like it’s Christmas?  That happens to me each time someone sends me a card or a care package.  It takes me back to my childhood and I love every minute of it.

But sometimes… as the box is torn open I start looking for a note, a card, anything with the resemblance of someone’s writing… just to find nothing.  Although I’m thankful and pretty excited about my gift… I can’t help but feel cheated… LoL.

So, each time I’ve sent  a few gift to family or friends I try to always enclose a little gift card like this one.  Well, maybe not just like it, but something quick and easy or clean and simple that says, “hey, this is for you.”

The center of my flower came from the A Round Array stamp set.  The A Round Array set gives you endless, adorable possibilities for cards, banners, and scrapbook pages.  It coordinates with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, which I did not use.

Instead I took a sponge dauber and lightly sponged around the stamp to give it a daisy look.  I do apologize, but the tiny leaves are from our last Sale-a-bration Bloomin’ Marvelous.  If you don’t have it, you can always use the Little Leaves Sizzlits Die and add a little dimension to it..

Stampin’ Up! Millions of Thank You’s

My favorite saying is “A Million Thank You’s Are Never Enough!”  There has been countless people in my life that have gone out of their way to do things for me.  From the simplest things to bigger than anyone can imagine.  For each and every one of them… I am thankful!

In my entire working life I have had TWO bosses that have taught me important lessons in life.  During this deployment I found the THIRD one.  We call him ‘The Godfather’.  I’m not sure how he acquired that nickname, but it fits.

He’s protective of his staff, leads with conviction, and is living proof that laughter is the best medicine!  He plays devils advocate just to get you to think about a choice you’re about to make.  You know he’s around the moment you hear his laughter… and boy is it contagious.

He’ll be leaving us shortly for another assignment and I sure am going to miss him.  To him I say, “A million ‘thank you’s” are never enough for your leadership and best of all your friendship!

Have you ever had an unforgettable boss?  Do you consider yourself an awesome boss?

Lately, I haven’t been able to make a card without my Butterfly paper punches.  Here I used the Bitty Butterfly and it’s so petite and cute.  Quick tip… when I layer designer series paper with solid card stock, I don’t let the unseen card stock go to waste… I use it to punch out butterflies, tiny flowers, or anything else.  It’s a great way to maximize the use of your paper.

Stampin! Up! Gee, Thanks + Give-a-Way

Gee Thanks 1

I love this particular stamp… why?  Because it reminds me of how my son would say it to me.  The heavy font adds a little more emphasis and gives it a jovial sound.

A perfect card to give to someone who has completely surprised you with a gift you were least expecting.  This is how I felt when Stampin’ Up! let me keep an extra My Paper Pumpkin  kit they accidentally sent to me.  I called them to let them know they sent an extra one and I needed to send it back.  I shouted, “GEE,THANKS!” when the representative said I could keep it.

So, what am I doing with it?  I’m giving it away!  I’m in a giving mood and I want to send it to someone who would love to try the kit.  To win it all you have to do is leave me a comment below and tell me why you wan to try it.  A winner will be selected on Monday, May 17th via my Facebook page.

Gee Thanks 2

Seriously though… while deployed I’m completing my professional military education.  It’s a little military education your recruiter doesn’t tell you about.  It’s painful, lengthy, and you just want to get it over with.

Yet in the end, you are so glad you finished it because you get a better understanding of why the Air Force exists.  Like the card… you experience a Gee, Whiz moment.

The greatest outcome of finishing your military education is that you become eligible to meet the promotion board. Doesn’t mean you’re going to get it, just means your can go up against your peers.  My board meets next month… wish me luck.

Go on get the stamp set and the paper… you are going to love it!

The Petite Pairs stamp set is one of my must haves for any occasion.  It’s taken me a very long time to find my style and now that I feel comfortable with it, I’m sticking to it!  I hope you enjoy my cards as much as I love making them.

A Clean & Simple Father’s Day

As a hobby demonstrator I enjoy teaching and sharing my love of card making.  On the first Friday of every month I hold a ‘by invite only’ FREE card camp.  Only five lucky individuals are invited at a time, not  because I don’t want to share and teach more people, but because I have a small setting to show and teach others what I love.  It only takes one hour and allows for beginners to take their time and not feel overwhelmed or rushed.  This month we created this clean & simple Father’s Day card.  We had so much fun and the friendships formed were golden.

If you live in the Fairfield-Suisun, Vacaville, Travis AFB, Dixon area send me an email for more information and sign up to join us next month.  But you gotta hurry… I have only FOUR (4) seats left for July.  If you want a private session in your home with five of your friends… send me an email.
