Pals Blog Hop: Cut It Out

Welcome to the August 2017 Pals Blog Hop. Thank you so much for joining us today. This month we’re going to “Cut It Out”.  Participants will feature projects with “cuts” from punches, dies, Framelits, Edgelits, or Thinlits.

Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

The die used to make the township silhouette will be in the Holiday catalog which will debut next month.  This will be the first of many Christmas cards that I will make for my loved one’s this Christmas, my favorite time of year.  To give the yellow illumination in the windows and doors, I used my Aqua Painters with a little bit of Daffodil Delight ink and barely dabbed it on the cardstock.  It doesn’t have to be perfect and messy is even better. =)  Our Fine Tip glue is perfect for the miniature cut-outs, especially the edges of the roof tops.

The moon is not perfectly round and I used a Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight very lightly to give it a kind of dirty look.  I stamped it off to the side to remove a little bit of the ink.  Santa and his reindeer are from the Hearts Come Home stamp set, which will also debut next month in the Holiday catalog.  The Stamp-A-Ma-Jig came in so handy when stamping Santa and his Reindeer.

Please take a minute to mark your calendar for our next hop on September 13, 2017 for “My Favorite Season”.  Now hop along using the Blog Hop Line-up below. Thank you so much for hopping with the Stampin’ Pretty Pals today. Don’t forget to leave us a comment. We’d love to hear what you have to say about our creative “Cuts”.

Watermelon Wonder Christmas at Stamp Ink Paper

Christmas Stamp Ink Paper

What’s so watermelon about a Merry & Bright Christmas card? Absolutely nothing, but one of the colors for this week Stamp Ink Paper Color Challenge.  It’s the first time I have used this entire stamp set and I must say, “Darlin’ I’m lovin’ it!”

Extravaganza

Many of you took advantage of the awesome designer series paper flash sale.  If you blinked you missed it.  However, there are still many more items and that start at 50% off.  I urge you to take a peek at what they still have here.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Fire Burning.  The brick, logs, and fire were all watercolored.  I used Real Red, Tangerine Tango, and Daffodil Delight.  I used a very tiny thin paint brush and soaked it in water before dipping it in another itty bitty drop of each ink.  I love how it came out so real lookin’.  I did the same to the brick and logs!  Perfect!

Pinguin Up a Stamp Ink Paper #23

Christmas

Thirty-eight!  Nope not my age, but the number of days left until Christmas. I’m about 60% done with my personal Christmas & Hanukkah cards and this is the first ever! Woohooo…could it be because I’m retired?  Nope!  I work full-time from home – one job, two product line, Stampin’ Up! and my Custom Made invitations.  They both keep me busier than I ever imaged.  With that said, lets see this week’s Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #23! Woohoo!

Stamp Ink Paper #23Today’s challenge is super cute and a super simple sketch that you can quickly make a card with.  Today, I’ve got a gift for all of those that enter this week’s challenge and then follows up with a comment here letting me know that you entered.  What is it!?  It’s a 6 x 6 inch surprise paper share from one of our Designer Series Paper from our annual catalog.  It’ll be a super sweet surprise just for entering! 1, 2, 3….go!

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Add a little dimension.  I didn’t want my penguin to be a flat stamped image, so I stamped the Santa hat in red and snipped it out and used a Stampin’ Dimensional to pop it up on his or her head….is it a boy or a girl? I don’t know….LOL

A Very Merry Pals Paper Arts

Christmas

Happy Thursday everyone and welcome to another Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge.  This week I’m hanging out with the husband in New Orleans.  We started the day off with brunch at Stanley’s and then we walked off the thousand calories of food all over the French Quarter.  Oh my how I love this beautiful city and the food is icing on the cake.

Pals Paper Arts ChallengeI like being different and that is why I chose to make a non-traditional Christmas card with the color challenge colors this week.  I showed it to my husband and he said it reminded him of the fires we had in Northern California. I would love to see what you can come up with….1, 2, 3….go!

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Glittery Snow.  I learned this technique from a fellow Pal who learned it from someone else.  I took a few drops of Tombow glue and mixed it with a few drops of water and put it on a I then used a small paintbrush and flicked it on the paper.  I took the glitter and poured it over the image, as you when you embossing.  That’s how the glittery snow was created. I know someone made a video and as soon as I find it, I’ll post it of you.

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #14

Christmas

There are two sayings I’ve heard through-out my lifetime…1) when it rains it pours, and 2) feast or famine.  This week, it’s both!  I often hear my mom say, “We must know sadness, so that we know what happiness feels like.”  As I wrote this post I said to my dear friend and downline, “Joy, I don’t know how I had time to hold a regular job.” LOL

With that said let’s get on with Christmas!  Yes, today’s card is a sketch from Stamp Ink Paper’s Challenge #14.  Now don’t let Christmas sneak up on you because after Halloween, it’s all down-hill.

Did you know that there’s a secret between a good and great card-maker?  Here’s the secret: Participate in card challenges!  Yup, that simple.  I know there’ll always be someone better than me, but I think I’ve gotten pretty good now compared to what I used to make (LoL).  So go on with your bad ninja card-making skills and join us this week at Pals Paper Arts.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • Stamped Tree Stand Out.  To give my tree an illusion of it standing out amongst the forest of trees I stamped the background trees in Smoky Slate Ink on a piece of Whisper White card-stock, but stamped it off to remove some ink to give it a lighter look.  Then a lone piece with Garden Green ink and punched it with our brand new Perfect Pines Framelits Dies that will become available for purchase Sept. 1st.

Christmas is filled with bold beautiful colors like Santa suit red, or traffic light green, but I love working with non-traditional colors.  This soft green has been my favorite this month, but next month I know it will change… LoL.  It literally took me 10 minutes to create this card from scratch.  I put the last one in the mail today.  It will be a day late, but Christ is never late, and I think the recipient will enjoy it.  I grew up with my mom’s belief that the holidays start on Thanksgiving Day and end January 6th of the New Year.  I’m sticking to that theory… LoL.
