Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Memories

I love the old wooden look and I fell in love with the Soho Subway (130140) designer series paper the moment I laid eyes on it.  It reminds me of living in Jersey and taking the train to New York just to have lunch.

It literally brings back sweet memories of being stationed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.  It was the best of times and one of my funnest assignments.

One thing about moving every four years that truly sucks is meeting the best friends in the world, just to move again and start the cycle all over again.  But it’s a life style and I have friends all over the world.

It’s the same with deployments.  You pretty much, eat-sleep-work out-go to work- and restart the cycle everyday for six months.  Going home is bitter sweet, but I still have four months left to enjoy my new friendships.

In the mean time, I will capture all my great memories (no pun intended).

This card sketch is brought to you by Freshly Made Sketches #90 by Linda Callahan, one of my fellow stamping Pals.

  1. This is such a lovely card Maggie! I love how you’ve given your butterfly flight by cutting out the wings! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

  2. Love that DSP in the background! And the butterfly is sweet with popped wings! Your colors look great to me! 🙂

  3. I love the time worn look of this card! And the little butterfly is the perfect accent! I love how you layered it onto the negative image. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!

  4. Your card is lovely! I love the paper you used. Daddy was in the Navy and had five kids and a diabetic wife who needed to be near good medical care. The Navy parked us in Norfolk where there are a million billets when I was five. As a child I felt so cheated because my friends got to live in so many interesting places and there I was, stuck in Norfolk. As an adult I realize that I have something rare for a Navy junior, that is roots and a sense of place. There are times, though, when I envy people like you who get to go places. Enjoy your memories.

  5. I proud of you mother making all these awesome cards for people to enjoy. If you ever need advice on let’s say picking the right color all you have to do is ask me and I will tell you the honest truth. Love you mom, stay safe out there!:)
