A Special Note

Thank You

Often a nicely laid out card with some very basic matting is all you need for a classic look.  It’s guaranteed to be enjoyed by the person you sent to.

The Details:

  • Everything in the Middle.  Like all things in life, a balance on a card is easy on the eyes.  The focus is in the middle and your eyes don’t need to wonder all over the place.  When making a card like this, embellishments are not needed.
  • Easy Color Match.  Need I say more?  With Stampin’ Up! colors (from paper to ink to embellishments) the work is done for you. Which is great for me because I’m color blind.  Not literally, but figuratively!  I can’t even dress myself b ecause I don’t know how to match colors (LOL).  I think wearing a uniform for 25 years of my life is to blame. LOL

In Holy Stampimony

Thank You

Didn’t use up all your Halloween Night designer series paper?  No problem!  You can do one of two things: 1) Save it for next year or 2) use the other side!  I chose #2!

This week we enter the season of being grateful/thankful and with my favorite season and the Stamp Ink Paper card challenges kicks the holiday season off with a grateful card challenge.  Please show how grateful you are over at the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge.

Thank You

The Details:

  • Marrying Stamp Sets.  Joining two different sets in holy stampimony makes for a happy card.  The anchor in Guy Greetings makes a perfect match with Banner Blessings and they make the cutest couple don’t ya think?
  • Outdated Designer Series Paper.  No problem! Flip it over and get a completely different look.  It’s what I did with the left over Halloween Night DSP.  Often we are so mesmerized with the cute designs that we forget to flip it and admire the reverse side.  However, you can also do what so many of us do….save it for next year! LOL

Stamp Ink Paper: Guitar Song #72

Thank You

This weeks starts off with no more Pals Paper Arts, but I have found a plug for the hole in my heart and you’ll see it real soon.  This week,  Stamp Ink Paper Challenge sings me a Stampin’ Up love song with the guitar from the Country Livin’ Stamp Set.

Stamp Ink Paper #72

You don’t need to know how to play a guitar to stamp it on a handmade card to send someone music for their soul.  Post your card here.

Thank You

The Details:

  • Wood Guitar.  To create a realistic wooden guitar, I stamped on the wood paper from the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack and then hand-snipped it.  Looks super realistic and I love it don’t you!?

Pals Paper Arts: Sketch by Susan Itell

Pals Paper Arts

That’s right folks it’s another lovely Thursday and you know what that means!  It’s card challenge day and I’ve created something simple you can use any designer series paper to make it.

Pals Paper Arts

This week our fabulous Susan Item came up with a design that can put together by a beginner card maker as well as an advanced crafter.  Take a look at what the team has come up with and let it inspire you at the Pals Paper Arts card challenge.

Pals Paper Arts

The Details:

  • Simple Straight Cuts. Doesn’t get any easier than this folks.  I cut the designer series paper in five thin strips and simply spaced them a tiny bit to give them a spread out look.  Nothing hard at all!  Just make sure to keep the design in same order to keep the design together.

Pals Paper Arts #320: Sketch by Dawn Tidd

Thank You Pals Paper Arts

Happy Thursday and welcome to another edition of Pals Paper Arts, a sketch by Dawn Tidd.  She gave us a sketch that truly challenged my imagination and I love it!  It’s one of the main reasons I have such a love for card-making.  There’s no right or wrong way of putting it together and it’s a direct reflection of our heart.

Pals Paper Arts

It’s been a little over a year since joining the Pals Paper Arts and I have loved every minute of it.  Being a member of the team makes me feel like I’m amongst the stars.  I wish for you to join us this week and shoot for the stars at Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge.

Thank You Pals Paper Arts

The Details:

  • Designer Series Paper as the Star. Often Stampin’ Up! has some of the most beautiful paper so that it doesn’t need to be stamped on to show off it’s gorgeous color and design.  This is one outhouse designer series papers that needs to thrills.  To give it a hit of pow I layered it with cardstock to show the division the actual sketch.

blooms-and-blossom

  • One Stamp Card. We give a greetings cards to wish someone a Happy Birthday, to say Thank You, or just to say Hi.  My card is obviously to say thank you.  The sentiment came from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set that has been around longer than I’ve been a demonstrator.  It’s one of  those sets that has a greeting for every occasion…I kid you not!

Teeny Tiny Wishes 127802

  • Butterflies in Flight. To finish off the design I added two to add a little pop to the card front.  Every butterfly also deserves some bling and that is why my butterflies will always be decorated with basic rhinestones.

Peace, Love & Lots of Hugs,
Maggie

Oh My Doily!

Gold Foil Doily

My love for creativity goes deeper than handmade greeting cards.  When I retired 1.3 years ago, I know seems like so long ago, I was encouraged to use my graphic designs skills to make custom invitations (and so much more).  Today I bring you a very simple doily card that was inspired by a custom invitation made a few days ago.

Silver Doily

The card I made for a customer used a doily purchased from a restaurant supplier…the tough job was assembling 100 of them.  But the one I made below is with Stampin’ Up! product that you too can make and make it look elegant to boot!

img_1896

The Details:

  • The Doily.  Doily’s remind me of my paternal grandmother and my mom and they bring back nostalgia for me and that’s why I love them so much.  When I go to a restaurant they often put a cute doily on a plate and you already know what I do right?  I take it so I can make a card out of it.
  • Use Only One!  Your doily’s will go a long way if you use just one.  Cut it in half and adhere on each side.  It’s okay if it doesn’t close all the way.  I used a tiny glue dot on one side to hold it in place.  You can also use a smaller ribbon and string it through the openings…it’s up to you.
  • Measurements.  Black Cardstock: 3″ x 3″, Red cardstock: 2.75″ x 2.75″, Whisper White cardstock: 2.50″ x 2.50″  Doily measures 3″ in circumference.

Stamp Ink Paper: Monochromatic

Stamp Ink Paper

What other way to say “thanks” instead of stamping it!? By using the Hello You Thinlits is the perfect way.  I’ve had this die-cut for a while, but have only began using it the last few weeks.

Stamp Ink Paper

Can’t wait to see your blue’s over at the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #65.

The Details:

  • Monochromatic Fade with a Die-Cut.  To cut each color in one strip I cut three separate pieces of cardstock in their respective color and used scotch tap on the back then ran it through the Big Shot.  Since the scotch tape held it together it was easy to apply the Fine-Tip Adhesive glue to the back.

Stamp Ink Paper: Clean and Simple #64

Stamp Ink Paper Thank You

Do you remember the Swallow Tail that was retired?  So many were disappointed when it was retired, but if you have the Butterflies Thinlits dies you can emboss the large butterfly without cutting it all the way through.  Have you ever ran a die-cut through your Big Shot and the die-cut was too worn out?  Well, you can duplicate that same effect with any die-cut and rubber mat.  See the details below.

SIP 64

I’d love to see you try this technique and play along with us at the Stamp Ink Paper this week.

Stamp Ink Paper Thank You

The Details:

  • Emboss with a Die-Cut.  To emboss with a die-cut all you have to do is replace the bottom plate with a Silicone Rubber mat!  Yes, that’s all you need! If the sandwich is a little too thin when running it through, simply add a piece of cardstock under the one you’re cutting.  Still to thin?  Add another. =)

Stamp, Ink, Paper: Thank You Color Challenge

Stamp Ink Paper

I absolutely love the colors that were selected for this weeks Stamp Ink Paper Challenge and I hope to see what you come up with too.

1

Stamp Ink Paper

The Details:

  • Pedal On the Edge.  I didn’t want the sentiment to look plain on the whisper white cardstock and chose to stamp it with one of the pedals stamps around the edges with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  It’s my go to ink these days for images that will be colored in with our Stampin’ Write markers.  The ink also stands up to watercoloring and I can’t stop using it instead of any other inks because it doesn’t bleed.
  • Colored in Pedal.  To used the gray pen in the Neutrals Stampin’ Write marker set because I also used a couple pieces from a retired punch left from Smoky Slate cardstock.

Thank You is Never Enough

Happy Birthday

I have a mad passion for stamping and custom design that each and every day I get lost in my own thoughts.  I’ve tried for four years to discover what I can bring to you what’s different from me and the oodles of other blogs….then I get lost.  I tried to do what others do in hopes of reaching further into the corners of the galaxy to no avail.  “Be yourself” they said, when they offer no real explanation of how “they” have grown.  So, I’ve decided….not to let the blog go, but to truly be myself.  Many of you will not be able to “handle the truth” and that’s okay (imagine Jack Nicholson’s voice).  With the way the world is today, it’s best to be ‘disliked’ for who you are then loved for who you are not”…right!  With that said, let me tell you about the card I bring to you for the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #27.

1

If you’re happy and you know it dance around, clap your hands and join us for this weeks “Thanks” challenge!

ABOUT THE CARD:

  • Whhhhhhat! A non-Stampin’ Up! rubber stamp!!!.  Yes, it is and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with my cute $1 puppy.  Back in the day when I used to be a Stampin’ Up! snob I refused to use anything that wasn’t a Stampin’ Up! product.  I got off my high horse earlier this year and decided that there is more out there that is just so cute I can’t help but use it as well.  This stamp was a gift from a special friend and today is the day I’m showing it off.
  • No coloring skills?  Non-sense!  You don’t need to be an artist to color.  When you color with your heart coloring outside the lines doesn’t matter.  It’s the same as cooking with love…it makes food taste so much better right?  RIGHT!
  • Sentiment.  The sentiment, however, is from one of my favorite stamp sets, Happy Happenings.  I know, I have a load full of favorites, but this one is going to be a keeper and will go straight to my growing private collection.  I have so many sets on my private shelf that I know can be sold for almost triple what I paid for them and that’s why I tell ya (almost preach it) that when you see a set you want so bad, just get it before it retires.  I actually laugh at people who pay ridiculous amounts of money for a set I paid $16-20 for.  Boy am I happy there is a retired Stampin’ Up! FB page where other stampers aren’t greedy and sell retired set for reasonable prices.
  • Share with others.  I have one favor to ask, you can pick one or both, but I’d appreciate if you just one.  1) share my card with someone you think may appreciate it; 2) post it to Pinterest, Facebook, or Instagram, I don’t care which one, pick one.  Heck, I just want to know who has read down this far. LOL

OSAT Blog Hop – Thank You

OSAT Hop Button

306.1

Today’s hop theme is ‘Thank You’ and I took the opportunity to show you a peek at some of the new Designer Series Paper and Stamp sets that are going to be coming around the corner in just a couple of weeks.  The Botanical Blooms Photopolymer Stamp Set is probably the first ever stampable DSP you’ll ever see.  My product includes a card and gift box as a thank you gift.

Thank You

Not matting a designer series paper is perfect when the paper is saturated with rich colorful images such as this one.  There’s no need to highlight any of the leaves or flower…and besides, the leaves seem to have movement don’t they?  I kept the Take Out gift box simple and used a 12″ strip of the same DSP and wrapped it around the box with the reverse side of the paper.  I tied it off with a strand of Wild Wasabi Seam Binding Ribbon.

Thank You Box Gift

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my projects that will be given to a friend as a thank you gift.  Please continue the hop by click on the next button.  If you get lost, no worries…the blog hop list is below to help you find your way.  Have a blessed Christmas, Hanukkah, and Happy New Year!
