Already Miss You!

Miss You

I made this card over three weeks ago, but decided I couldn’t post it then because something was missing.  With there being no mistakes in crafting I held on to it until the time was right… and today is that time.  What was wrong and what did I do?

The left side of the Very Vanilla cardstock seems to empty.  So, I drew a line across the bottom with a real red and placed polka dots alongside the ‘see ya later’ stamp with basic black.  It filled in the empty ‘white space’ that was bugging me for weeks… LoL.

Miss You

Lesson Learned: When you think something is missing don’t be afraid to draw lines.  Use a ruler to keep them as straight as possible.

Was it Sent with Love?

Love

I first bought this paper (Sent With Love) when it was available on paper.  I never ever used it until I made this card.  I don't know why I didn't use it, but I busted out with it for this card challenge.  But don't fret, it is still available through My Digital Studio (MDS), which you can get a free 30 day trial here.  The Sent With Love Digital Download is also available in MDS.

The two punch outs are not stamps… they are from one of the pages of the designer series paper.  I cut them all out and used them on the card which you too can use by printing them.

Te Estraño (I Miss You) Blossom Branch in Morning Meadow

Morning Meadow Te Extrano1

Te Estraño translates to I Miss You.  I have sent various versions of this card many times in the last five months.  I may not make bundles of the same card, but I certainly use the same sentiments over and over again.  Why?  Because the Deseos Pequeñitos along with the English version (Teeny Tiny Wishes) come with every occasion stamp you will ever need.

Always Thinking of You & Blog Candy Give-a-Way Winner

For the last 2.5 weeks I was finishing up some very important professional military education (PME) and I got used to staying up until 3:00 a.m. (0300 for you military folks)… LoL.  I posted about PME here.  Well, now that my sleep cycle is off and I couldn’t sleep, I decided to find another card challenge to compete in.

I found a Clean and Simple on Sunday sketch challenge.  Challenge #10 called for a ‘Black, White plus One’.  What do you think?

This is what the inside of the card looks like.  I really have this thing for butterflies and I can’t help myself, but use my butterfly paper punches over and over again. =)

Now for the Blog Candy Give-a-Way winner!  I know you scrolled all the way down just to see if it was your name.  Without further suspense….. the winner is

Liz… this is what she said

It’s nice to know there are gals who give their time to do this. I love your cards, nice and clean look. I’ve never tried the clear stamps or pumpkin kit. Guess I’ll have to consider them soon. Good luck with your deployment and the boards.[/dropshadowbox]

Today the weather in Kyrgyzstan was 70 degrees with rain and clouds.  It was an uneventful day and I’d rather have uneventful days because it means no one was hurt.  What made my whole day was being featured on my upline’s blog… Mary Fish.

I am without words to express my appreciation of Mary.  Her Pals are all over the world… nothing can separate us… not the thousands of miles, oceans, or countries, because we are all virtually connected!

Until the Next Post…

Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Memories

I love the old wooden look and I fell in love with the Soho Subway (130140) designer series paper the moment I laid eyes on it.  It reminds me of living in Jersey and taking the train to New York just to have lunch.

It literally brings back sweet memories of being stationed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.  It was the best of times and one of my funnest assignments.

One thing about moving every four years that truly sucks is meeting the best friends in the world, just to move again and start the cycle all over again.  But it’s a life style and I have friends all over the world.

It’s the same with deployments.  You pretty much, eat-sleep-work out-go to work- and restart the cycle everyday for six months.  Going home is bitter sweet, but I still have four months left to enjoy my new friendships.

In the mean time, I will capture all my great memories (no pun intended).

This card sketch is brought to you by Freshly Made Sketches #90 by Linda Callahan, one of my fellow stamping Pals.

Don’t forget I have a free product give-a-way on Monday.

Stampin’ Up! I Miss You (FMS #89)

Today marks two months and two weeks since I have been deployed.  It also marks the day I got the mother of all care packages.  I jumped up and down with so much excitement… I just couldn’t contain myself.  I received my favorite flat bread from Costco… my favorite cool-aid packets (grape and cherry), my favorite Oreo’s (Golden), my favorite Crystal Lite (Appletini), my favorite nail polish (french), Chicken of the Sea, nail file (score!), and other goodies.

One thing we realize when we are deployed is just how much the little things in life we take for granted mean so much to us.  A simple nail file will bring so much happiness it’s unbelievable.  I have been blessed on this deployment.  I have received cards, post cards, and letters in the mail.  I’m not talking e-mails… we prefer hand-written notes that remind us of home.

I know I’ve written that before, but those are the things we take for granted with social media.  I consider myself lucky and loved and this card is dedicated to my family & friends.  I sure do miss talking to you, I sure do miss hugging you, I sure do miss seeing your smile, let me just say, “I miss you period!”   Thank you  so much for the cards, letters, coffee (YES!), and for the little things you do for me… they mean so much.

FMS89

Almost forgot to mention, I’ve entered many sketch challenges in the past… and just a couple times my card was selected as the winner, but this card is my first challenge while in a deployed location.  Freshly Made Sketches #89 (A sketch by Rita) is one of my favorite challenges and I’m so grateful I’m able to join the challenge from the other side of the world… LoL.

This week I was on my private FB pals page and I shared with my 300+ stamping friends that not only have I had a new member join my Circle of Pals, but I also get together with some of my friends here and we stamp while we are deployed!  Yes deployed to another part of the world far far away from home.

My point was , I’m the furthest one away, yet I stay connected with them virtually.  I AM living proof that this hobby can be taken anywhere in the world and we military folks get a little extra special treatment from Stampin’ Up!

So, if you want to try Stampin’ Up! and take it for a test drive… click here!

I used two new products from our new 2013 Catalog:
Quatrefancy Specialty Paper (130141)
Really Good Greetings Clear Stamp Set (130333)

If you don’t know a deployed military member leave a comment and I will share your thoughts, prayers, and comments with my co-workers.  I know they will appreciate it.

Am I the only Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator that you know serves in the military and has a blog?
