Pals Blog Hop: Families First

Welcome to the Pals April  2018 Blog Hop. Join us while we put “Families First” in our hop this month. The Stampin’ Pretty Pals will inspire you with family related projects like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Graduation or Family Vacations. You may be just starting or hopped over from another Pal. In either case, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

I don’t know about you, but if you use Stampin’ Up! products you already know that they color match everything for you.  You can get as fancy as you’d like and learn as you go along.  I prefer simple and this card be sent to a special momma after the birth of her baby girl.

Thank you so much for hopping with the Stampin’ Pretty Pals today. Please take a minute to mark your calendar for our next hop on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 when we all “Step It Up with Textures or Techniques”. Now hop along using the Blog Hop Line-up below. It’s a Baby with Pals Paper Arts #261

Baby

Good day New York, how I’ve missed you!  I’m writing you live from the Big Apple!  Well, actually I’m in Staten Island with my brother from another Mother Justin Krieger (jkcardsonline.com).  I came all the way out here to participate in special training from the man himself….and from Michael Trent (worldofmichaeltrent.blogspot.com), the Crazy American artist living in the countryside of Sao Paulo, Brasil.  He’s in New York teaching and I had to get some “training time’ in with two of my all time favorite artists.  I’m going places my friends and then I’m going to bring their fabulous training back to my local friends.

First stop is Scrap-A-Latte, where Michael is teaching his famously most cutest Baby Book.  I can’t wait to put this album together and show it off to you tomorrow.  Oh my gosh, I’m so excited I can’t sleep!

PPA 261 Jul 23

The Pals Paper Arts #261 sketch challenge couldn’t have had better timing!  A baby card to go with the book that I’ll show y’all tomorrow.  I loved this sketch because it challenged me to come up with something original that I had never tried before and I love new exciting challenges.  So folks, I’d love for you to try this at home…make something different with this awesome sketch by Nicole Watts.
New YorkI had just arrived and my two best buddies greeted me with open arms at Scrap-A-Latte. Michael Trent, me (duh), and my BFF Justin Krieger.

Maggie Made Tips:

  • Shaker Card: My very first shaker card…only took four takes (LOL).  All I’m going to say is I’M HOOKED and practice is going to make perfect.  When learning something new and you become a little frustrated, all I can say is NEVER give up!

Personalized Baby’s Welcome

Baby Welcome

As a part of my home-based business, I branched out into the custom-made market after the urging of my BFF, Pam.  Although I initially resisted, I’m comforted in knowing that when I make such wonderful personalized cards my customer is elated.

Baby Welcome

The main requirement for this card was to incorporate the baby’s name into the sentiment.  Although Stampin’ Up! retired their My Digital Studio software for personal designing cards, I now use My Memories Suite, which is almost the same thing, but with a bit more functions.

Baby Welcome

What makes my custom orders different?  a) they’re affordableb) no minimum order require, and c)  if you don’t like it, you don’t buy it!  Basic card size is A2 (measures  4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″) and start at $5 and up depending on embellishments.

June On-Line Orders.  Receive a sample (one of each) Expressions Natural Elements when you place an order via my on-line store and use Host Code: 7XAYE9K4

No Contact – What it really means.  When you select “No Contact” when you place your on-line order it literally means, “Don’t tell Maggie I placed an order.”  I will not be told who  you are and can’t send you the free product samples.  I would love for you to instead check-mark, “YES, allow my demonstrator to contact me with order updates and other important information.”  Please know that I will never send you junk mail. I want to show you how much I truly appreciate your business.

Pick ANY two stamps…ANY Price.  I welcome Hobby crafters/stampers who want to simply receive some great quality product at a discount or just want to take advantage of this month’s FREE stamp offer!  Click here to read the details.Blog Signature

Big News Baby!

Baby
I had a last minute card order from a friend who is a class regular. She sent me a text and asked if I had time for a card and I said, “Of course, come on over.” LOL…I misunderstood. She responded with, “No, can you make a card for me tonight.” I laughed hysterically because it was a very long day and God knew I needed some comic relief.

Yes, I make custom card orders thanks to my BFF Pam F. who encouraged me not just to teach others, but to make them for those that don’t want to make them, but buy them.

Baby

Have you asked yourself, “what is that honeycomb paper?  I got this idea from one of my Pretty Pals.  What are the Pretty Pals?  I’ll tell you down below.  Right now let me tell you about the card.

The card base is Early Espresso and the honeycomb was embossed with honeycomb textured folder on vellum. When you emboss vellum you must be super careful because if you pull it to quickly it can tear.

A Baby Elephant

Congratulations

This card represented my mood over my three-day weekend.  It was full of happy moments followed by unexpected sadness.  News of a friend’s new baby on the way followed by the passing of a great man.

The baby elephant is the sign of good luck (so I’ve been told) for me it’s knowing that a friend has been blessed with new beginnings and a growing family.  The grass is the greener pastures that we are all bound to have with a positive attitude.

Yet, the half circle in the background represents the sun and the moon.  The transition of a life that was taken way too soon.   The moon is the passing on to another life with a departure of an awesome soul.  We are truly going to miss you Tim.  I promise to keep an eye on the Farmer’s wife.

Congratulations

Here’s a close up of the tiny baby elephant with a pink flower on its head.  We don’t know what the sex of the baby is but you instantly know what we are hoping for.  Yes, we will be prayerful for a healthy baby period… but there is nothing but boys in this family, so a baby girl, is slightly hoped for. =)

Polka Dot Baby Blue

Here comes the stork!  Are you ready?  Have you ever been accused of over-labeling?  Then the Label Love Stamp Set is perfect for you!  Use one of six pre-created labels, or customize one of your own.  Coordinates with the Artisan Label Punch.  Also available in Spanish, French, and German.

FMS 95

I have set  new post Stampin’ Up! convention goals.  The first is to enter as many sketch challenges as I possibly can… and the second is to grow my Circle of Pals, and third develop easy to do card classes for hostess’.  Here’s my first goal, a Sketch brought to you by Freshly Made Sketches.

Just in case you are wondering… I made the banner with the Modern Label punch and used the Hexagon punch to punch out the points.  So much easier than eye-balling it with paper snips (scissors).

Make Your Own Card with these Supplies:

Label Love Clear Stamp Set
Hexagon Punch
Artisian Label Punch
Modern Label Punch
Polka Dot Parade designer series paper
Large Rhinestones Basic Jewels
Anywhere Glue Sticks
Stampin’ Dimensionals

Until the Next Post…

Join my Circle of Pals team and get a project kit FREE.  Let’s attend convention next year together. =)

Finally, A Day About You!

After I made this card, I got around to thinking that it can be used for a variety of occasions.  A birthday, Mother’s & Father’s Day, Graduation, a little hokey for a wedding, but hey don’t judge… hahaha.  Any other’s you can think of?  I think it’s perfect for any occasion really!

I used my paper-piercing mat and tool to give the card a little subtle face lift… since I did not use the framelit that coordinates with the pattern.  But maybe you can try it and show it to me.  I’d love that!

Pals Blog Hop: Retirement Party!

Thank you for joining us for the May Pals Blog Hop and our annual retirement party! It’s time to say goodbye to stamps and accessories that will not be available in the new  2013-14 Stampin’ Up!catalog. Although it’s always sad to see wonderful products retire, it is exciting to think about all of the new products that will soon be available. So enjoy the farewell tour for our favorite retiring products – and remember you have until June 3rd to order from the retiring product lists.

You should have just left stop number 19 on the Pals Hop – Diane Roberts at Score at Four and a Quarter.  If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Just in case this is the first time you’ve visited me, I serve on active duty with the Air Force for the last 23 years.  I am Livin’ the Dream!  I look forward to the day that I can retire and commit  ALL my time making cards and working on my scrapbooks.

I am currently deployed and with each new post I talk about the deployment life from my perspective.  I pretty much work 12 or more hours a day, but the time for me is flying by… I don’t know if it’s because of all the hours I put in or because this time around (3rd deployment) I’m making cards and finding others here who enjoy doing it too! =)

This is the first card I make on this deployment.  One of our warehouse logistician’s became a first time uncle and greeting cards are a premium around here, so I used this opportunity to use one of my favorite retiring stamp sets, Moving Forward.

He will be sending this card off to the new parents and he is very excited to meet his nephew in five months and three weeks (but who’s counting)… LoL.

This stamp set is part of the Making a Difference program which Stampin’ Up! made exclusively for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).  You can read more about the program here or view the first time I used the set here.

The next stop is Katy McGloin at Just Fun Stamping, stop number 21 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting – and I hope to see you next month!
