From The Bottom of My Heart & PPA #251

PPA 1Today’s card is brought to you by Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge #251.  I made it to give you two things. One, stamping on cardstock other than Whisper White shows dramatic color results and two, a little time to say good-bye…my added segment of yesterday Pals Blog Hop.

This framelit will retire in June and it’s one of my favorites.  For some reason it reminds me of the Alamo in Texas.  I just might hang on to it, but I’m not 100% sure yet.  I guess you’ll find out on June 2nd.  That’s the date I gave myself to make up my mind.
PPA 251

These colors are so gorgeous together. They are bright, fun, and feel warm.  Summer is almost here in Northern California and I just can’t wait!  I’d love for you to do something with these colors and join the fun going on over there.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS: Not in cash, but great crafting recommendations.

  • Stamp on more than just Whisper White.  Although you may think that the chevrons on the card are green, they’re not!  I used Tempting Turquoise on Sahara Sand cardstock and I absolutely LOVE how it completely changed the color.  It’s a great way to change up colors when you don’t have it available.  Experiment and have fun!

The Secret of Life Is…

I began my journey on Wednesday and arrived to my deployed location on Saturday.  Whew! what a journey, so far!  Many do not like spending time away from their families and neither do I.  But… being that I am in the 1% club, it is a sacrifice I do not regret.  This stamp is a perfect statement of how I feel.

I’ll be gone for 6 months from family and friends, but I have already made friends where I am.  I met a wonderful young lady at the terminal when I landed to await further transportation, her name is Dee. (real name changed to protect the innocent… lol).  Dee is a female pilot and is headed on her umpteenth tour of duty.  She absolutely loves her job and it shows in the way she talks about it.

I have only met three female pilots and I must say, she is the one who has stood out the most.  Why?  Because she was so down to earth, kind, friendly, and a great conversationalist to my ADHD lifestyle.  But honestly, what blew me away about her was that she knew what a Cricut was.  You’re laughing right?  No, not the insect that chirps you crazy, but the die-cutting machine.

When your fabric projects and handmade gifts are finished with details that are perfectly color coordinated, everyone who sees or receives them will definitely notice.  The soft and flowing 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon drapes like silk and will add a distinguished and delicate look to your creations.

Reminiscent of Victorian apothecary labels, this exquisitely designed From My Heart eight-piece stamp set is a must-have for those who covet that vintage look.  Clever sentiments and intricate designs combine to make this a stamp set you’ll want to use again and again.

A personal shout out goes to my three new blog subscribers that signed up to follow My Paper Journey while I was flying a few thousand miles to get to my temporary home.

How do you enjoy the passing of time?

I Promise You, This Too Shall Pass

I’m a firm believer that time heals all wounds and our faith keeps us strong.  I have experienced the pain and agony a person goes through when something happens to us, a family member, or a close friend.  I have often heard others say, “I’m sorry for your loss, or you are a strong person… you’ll be okay.”  They hug us to show physical support, but then they leave.  Not because they don’t care, but because life goes on.  It’s not a bad thing, but when I tell someone I’m sorry for what they are enduring, I like to give them a little something to let them know they are in my thoughts & prayers.

This stamp is new this year and Stampin’ Up! left nothing out!  The set comes with other beautiful stamps, you will know you just have to have it when you see it.  Go on take a LOOK at it now.  Pair it up with our basic colors and get yourself the Classic Stampin’ Spots, then come on over and I will show you how to put a sweet simple card together for FREE!  You have no creativity?  No worries, you don’t NEED it.

Question is… Nothing vs. Something

This stamp touches the hearts of many of us in the military.  Why?  Because when the one’s we love are deployed far away our friends and co-workers try to make sure we are okay.  They make us dinner, invite us to a show, and offer to hang out.  But whatever it is you are doing with others just isn’t the same without your loved one.  Do you agree?

Since joining Stampin’ Up! I stopped buying different colored pearls.  I keep basic pearl packets handy along with different colored Sharpies.  I simply find a matching color and color the pearl.  Great way to SAVE money without buying tons of different colored pearls.

Pals July Blog Hop: Summer Sunshine

It’s time for some fun in the sun with the Pals!  Glad you could join us for the Pals Summer Sunshine Blog Hop!  You’ve probably hopped over from the fabulously talented Mary Fish, the Pretty Pals Fearless Leader, I’m stop number 10 on the Pals Hop and I’m glad you hopped in!  I’ll help you “hop along” from blog to blog where you’ll find great ideas for summer themed Stampin’ Up! projects from the Stampin’ Pretty Pals!  Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you’ll be back on track.
My project includes not just a card, but a coaster made out of a simple white tile.  It is my first coaster of many more to be made.  We all know that handmade gifts are not just very personal, but they mean the most to the receiver because they were made especially for them.  Taking the time out of our busy day to hand make a special gift will bring tons of joy to the receiver.
I wanted to make the tile exactly the same as the card, but realized that I could not add dimension to the coaster because it would cause the drink to not sit flat on the tile.   I used the First Edition Designer Series Paper, Mixed Bunch & From My Heart stamp sets, with Basic Black, Real Read, Daffodil Delight inks, and used Soft Suede to sponge around the card to give it a slight antique finish.
Now hop along for more inspiring ideas from the fantabulous Angela Curry at Kindred Stampers, stop number 10 on the Pals Summer Sunshine Blog Hop!  Thanks for “hopping” by!
