Butterflies: Live Laugh Love

Last weekend I was at the Stampin’ Up! On Stage Event in San Diego and besides having a blast with my crafting friends, I met an extraordinary woman named Doris Martin.  A Holocaust Survivor, she beat the odds in life! Let me tell you, she was something else and I’ll never forget her.  She signed my book and as I hugged her she held me tightly and said in my ear, “Sweetie, with Peace & Love you have everything.  So live life, laugh always, and give away your love.”  Her words put tears in my eyes and I just had to share this with you.  I just started to read her book, Kiss Every STEP and I have to say, “I can’t put it down!”  You can get one yourself on Amazon.

Having visited Dachau in Germany years ago and remembering what I saw at the museum came flooding back as if it was just yesterday.  The weird thing was that I made the card a few weeks ago before ever meeting her and I found it lovely that she used the words on the card when I hugged her.  I think I’m just going to have to send her the card.  Be Blessed and Be Thankful!  Keep on Living, Laughing, and Loving!

The Details:

  • Simplicity is in the details.  Punch, Adhere, Stamp & Emboss and BOOM you’re done!  The particular Designer Series Paper on my card is no longer available, but don’t let that stop you!  Use your favorite or whatever you have on hand.
  • Butterfly punches are retiring.  Yes, they are being retired in May and they’re only available while supplies last.  So you may want to grab them now before they’re gone for good.  With a bone folder give the butterfly wings a little curl inward to give them the in-flight 3D look.
  • Embossing powder.  Use whichever color your heart desires.  The black one I used is retired by us, but you can get more colors here.

Just for You Stamp Ink Paper #36

IMG_8927
Have you ever been out shopping (at the store and on-line) when you see something that instantly reminds you of someone you know?  Well, that happened to me…although I instantly think of me when I see a lot of things, this gift wasn’t for me.  It hasn’t been sent yet because 1) I have a lot of things going on at the same time, kind of like having a bunch of tabs open on your computer (LOL), and 2) I also have a horrible relationship with Mr. Proscrasination.  However,  I made this card to go with the gift.  I’m not worried about her seeing it because she doesn’t follow my blog. HA!

I know what you’re thinking!  “What kind of friend is she?”  That doesn’t matter because I know she’s my friend and that’s all there is to it for me to send her a gift of something that totally reminded me of her when I saw it?  Was is it you ask?  I can’t tell…..just in case someone she knows (that does follow my blog) tells her.  I did make this card for two reasons…first, for her and second for this week’s Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #36.

Stamp Ink Paper Card Challenge

I’d lovefor you to join us this week!

Try it and then let me know how simple it really was. =)

Love You with Pals Paper Arts

Love You

Growing up my mom used to say to me, “El corazon no manda.”  Meaning, the heart doesn’t tell us what to do.  I never knew what she meant by it until I fell in love.  I also used to hear people say, “Love is blind.”  I never knew what that meant either. LOL…until you guessed it, until I fell in love.  This card is dedicated to my mom who taught us that Love is universal and our hearts is what we love with.  Love you mom.

PPA 259-2

I’ve been truly challenged to the limit with card challenges and I must let you know that I’m officially obsessed with card challenges.  I would love for you to be crazy about it too…LOL.  You don’t have a blog?  You don’t need to.  you can use Pinterest and a few weeks ago I made a video that shows you how to post a challenge though Pinterest.  Check it out here.

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • White Space.  There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.  Especially if your goal is to showcase one thing.  My showcase is simply the word LOVE.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Of all days in the month, today is my monthly two posts  in one day.

You Make Me Smile With PPA 253

Smile1

Today’s sketch is brought to you by none other than the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #253.  Whew, this challenge was a definite challenge!  But I smiled through it all because without Stampin’ Up! I’d have to see a therapist and I wouldn’t be able to afford my hobby….LoL.  Funny, but not funny. HA!

PPA 253

Now, go on and check out what the rest of the designers came up with.  This challenge I’m dying to see.  Thank you Nicole Watt for keeping my creative side flowing.  These last couple challenges have been a challenge in say the least, but I LOVE EVERY ONE OF THEM!  If they weren’t challenging well, they wouldn’t be called a challenge right!

MAGGIE MADE TIPS:

  • The use of a sketch.  Whew!  Now this sketch was a challenge as previously mentioned.  But NEVER be discouraged when you are stumped.  Use it to your advantage to think outside the box!  Instead of cutting the Back to Black DSP the shape of the challenge shape, I use my Stampin’ Trimmer to create a cut out of the shape instead.  Isn’t that cleaver!?  😉
  • Contrasting texture.  I added a tiny bit of contrasting texture to my card by embossing the Real Red card-stock with the Chevron Embossing folder.  I didn’t want the pop of color to look plain.  Plus, it adds a mild 2-D effect to the designs in the DSP.
  • Where the sequin fall.  What do I mean by that?  When I add sequin to my master-pieces (that’s what they are…lol) I let the sequin fall from about 5 inches.  It’s easy to do too…hold a few in your hand above the card and let them go as if you’re putting sprinkles on a cake.

Occasions Catalog Ends This Weekend:  Don’t let yourself regret why you didn’t get an item you really wanted.  Then depending on how bad you want it…you’re gonna pay a little more and I know eBay prices are NOT what you want to pay.  I highly recommend that you take one last look at the 2015 Occasions Catalog and order what you really desire.  The majority of it is on sale anyway.

Creative Thinking (at noon today). The other night I thought and thought and then it came to me…how to pretty much earn a FREE membership. Join me for a 15 minute webinar to find out how to take Stampin’ Up! out for a test drive for free or just a couple of dollars.  This is only for non-demonstrators who do not have a Demonstrator and desire to join my Circle of Pals team. If you meet those two prerequisites, please sign up here.

NO CONTACT – What it means.  When you select “No Contact” when you place your on-line order with me it literally means, “Don’t tell Maggie I placed an order.”  This is a bummer for me because I can’t show you my gratitude for your order or send you product samples because I have no idea who you are.  When placing your order will you (pretty please) check the box that says, “YES, allow my demonstrator to contact me with order updates and other important information.”  Please know that I will never send you junk mail. Please send me a note if you have any questions.  I truly appreciate your business no matter how big or small it is very much appreciated.

Why Make Monogrammed Notecards

Monogram Note Card

Today’s post is in collaboration with Createyou86 and much like paper-crafting we have my favorite thing in common… the love for creativity.

First things first, if you believe the hype when people say, “I can’t draw to save my life!” then this post is not for you.

The ability to hand draw objects or people is not creativity!

Do you agree with me? It doesn’t matter below is the definition.

A Creative Idea: What It Means

Creativity is the act of making something new and different to YOU. It is an idea, a poem, or even a handmade card, such as a notecard.

To put something together on a piece of paper and call it a notecard is creativity and it is like beauty… seen in the eye of the beholder.

Creativity Is No Secret: It’s Easier to Find Than You Think

Look at the simple, yet classy notecard (and envelope). I got the idea from a sketch I came across over a year ago on the internet. It’s become my “go to notecard” ever since.

Note Card

I always use an ‘M’ to represent my name and now its become my personal symbol. I send it to past, present and future networking contacts. Sending a few written words about a conversation, meeting, or future endeavor will make you stand out. Don’t believe me? Try it. You’ll be very surprised.

When I first began making note cards, I used a stencil for the ‘M’, but have not graduated to using a die-cut. A rubber stamp works well too. The possibilities are endless.

I made the lines around the card with a simple ruler and black pen to add emphasis to the “M”. You can see another more detailed note card here.

There’s a way for you to learn creativity!

Save time spent on the internet searching for ideas, I’ve put together a FREE e-book that comes with enough layouts for cards or scrapbook layouts. Download your e-book by signing up to receive my blog updates here

If you already make and send notecards, please leave a comment below and share who you send them to and why?

Buenos Pensamientos – Good Thoughts

Spanish Sending Good Thoughts

You’d rather make a handmade card then to waste gas and run to the store and buy one. Besides you look for new ideas for project because you know that making something yourself is more thoughtful and meaningful.

You don’t have time, you’re in a hurry to get something else done, but you want to make a card yet another day escapes you. We ALL have days like this and it’s okay because this time you are going to make one in less than 15 minutes.

I’m going to tell you how.

Spanish Sending Good Thoughts

Make everything square or rectangular.  When you need to make something in a hurry keep it simple.  Less is more and you don’t need too much hoopla to make it pretty and meaningful.  Tie it off with the bright ribbon to make it holler a dash of color and there you go!  The perfect gift for family or loved one. I guarantee that only took 10 minutes because I made it.

As a follow-up to my subscribers… I’ve sent a few emails to the chosen responders, so we can close up the interview today.  Also remember you have a $25 shopping spree waiting for your participation (NO STRINGS ATTACHED).  There are a couple that are pending the interview and you have until tomorrow to respond or lose your $25 shopping spree to others who responded.

What!? You didn’t respond… well I’m extending the offer to you until Monday.  Go back and search your inbox because that’s where it’s at.  I won’t be doing another offer like this for quite a while.  Who doesn’t want a $25 shopping spree!?

Think of just ONE person whom you think is a very busy person, but would love to make a handmade card…. now forward them this post and I will teach them how to make something different at least a couple times a week.

Thinking of You… Have You Thought of Me?

Thinking of You

When I first began making cards I did NOT like flowers and leaves.  HAHAHA… now I absolutely love them. I think it may have been because I don’t have a green thumb. Usually my plants die, but I soon discovered that paper flowers don’t need watering and especially you don’t need to them. Now, I just talk to myself as I’m putting a card together with flowers. This reminds me, I better go water my in-house tree my cousin Veva gave me. LOL.

Thinking of You

If you notice the specific print on the paper I used in the Back to Black designer series paper has a natural fence design to it.  It’s the perfect compliment to the hard wood print.  Also, you would NEVER know I kinda messed up the sentiment on the actual wood because THERE ARE NO MISTAKES IN CARD MAKING… LoL.  But then again, after you look at it the cover up looks much better.

Nothin’ But Hugs

My Pals never cease to amaze me!  Especially when the cards they send have been posted on their blogs! I know how special one feels when a card arrives in the mail that was made for a blog. That’s why I also LOVE to send them.

Thinking of You

This cute little down under Koala Bear is so darn cute and it was perfect for me because as a child my favorite zoo animal was the Koala Bear.

Get Well

Many of you know who Mary Fish is.  She is the rock star of Stampin’ Up! and my upline.  She definitely made me feel special when I got this card in the mail.  She is simply amazing and I am so happy to call her my friend.

More Hugs

Maria

You can NOT deny that this is just the cutest card ever! I couldn’t help but feel so loved by my Pals when I opened this card.

My sweet Circle of Pals Maria R. one of my down-line sent this sweet thing wishing me well wishes. Maria is a hobby demonstrator who joined Stampin’ Up! just for the discount.  Anyone can join for any reason for as long as they want, no questions asked and you can learn more about it here.

Just Because

This second card was sent by one of my favorite Pretty Pals, Frances.  I say one of my favorite Pals because honestly I’ve lost count of how many I really have.  There are over 300+ plus of us and after a while it’s hard to keep track… LOL.

What I can tell you is that the friendships I have made are out of this world. Pals live all over the United States and we communicate virtually through email, a private Facebook page, and webinars.

Anyone can become a Pal and you can find out pretty much anything about us right here.
