Not the Typical Beer Cake

Beer Cake Welcome Home

Beer cake anyone? Although I absolutely love the beer cake batter mix sold by Pampered Chef there is someone else in my household that loves liquid beer cake. It’s known to many as liquid courage too, but this household has enough liquid courage, especially since we are a military family…LOL.

As ink is to paper, barley is to beer and since are both low in fat and protein but rich in satisfaction, I made this wonderful welcome home beer cake for the better half when he returned from deployment.

Listed below are the products used to make the sign, but you must know that the straws came from the June My Paper Pumpkin monthly surprise kit. I already knew I was going to make a beer cake and when I received the June kit, I knew right away how I would use them, so I held on to a few straws. They were perfect!

My Dad’s Mustache

Mustache

The mustache is in right now, both on men (maybe some women…LoL), and I see it on so many craft items everywhere I go… I LOVE IT!  I especially love the mustache because my dad has had a mustache ever since first shaved… imagine that! Who do you know has had a mustache YOUR whole life that you don’t even know what they look like without one?

Mustache2

During a brief conversation with another demo I was given a little insider secret.  A few of us were told that we should get the mustache framelit and after seeing the Holiday catalog I knew why we were told that.  I tell YOU, be prepared to WoW those that you make a Christmas card for if you have the framelit of course! (LOL)

Digital Meets Burlap

MM 1

Can you tell which part of this card was done via My Digital Studio? You already know it’s not the burlap… LOL.  It’s the sentiment not the cake.  The cake is a new stamp set that comes out June 2nd.  If you don’t have your paper catalog and would like to become one of my preferred customer’s click here to get your FREE catalog today!

How did I make this cool card?  I printed a card front with My Digital Studio then I simply stamped the pretty little cake and colored it with my new Blendabilities alcohol ink markers (coming out soon)!  The burlap corners were slimply snipped from the corners.

Thank You for Caring3

To start the week off on today’s Manly Monday… I am giving away  6″ x 12″ inch 2013 Spring Designer Series Paper that I found while making room for my 2014-2015 Catalog product pre-order.  See the paper below.

  2. If you do not have a demonstrator and want one make sure I have your mailing address here.
  3. If neither apply to you… leave a comment and tell me if you have heard of the Blendabilities Alochol-based markers by Stampin’ Up!?

Thank You for Caring2 This card is a result of a friend asking if he could place an order of ‘Thank You’ cards to send to those caring people who attended his dad’s funeral a few weeks ago.  Each time friends ask for cards they must give me FULL creative rights.  All I ask are for choice of color(s).

Jeff asked for a blue/green color and in my mind when these two colors together result in Bermuda Bay.  I wrapped up all seven cards in a clear box for him and I hope he likes it. =)

Thank You for Caring

It’s 2:00 a.m. and I’m laying on a Coleman air mattress and they are NOT paying me to endorse them, but it is so darn comfortable.  I’m visiting my family this week for Spring break and to show you once again that Stampin’ Up! is easy to take with you anywhere… I packed up my Scrapbooking roller bag with my Stampin’ Up! products so I don’t miss out on creating cards while my family members are at work.

I don’t plan to sit around waiting on them to get home from work right!?  LOL.  I felt bad for running out of time to post my Manly Monday card last week and so I wasn’t going to let you down this week.

Manly Monday: Hi Love

Hello Love

When I see a tree I’m reminded of  a tall (everything is tall to me… I’m 5’1″) strong masculine figure.  When a tree is cut & prepared  to become wood for the production of furniture, a home, or beautiful ‘hardwood’ floors it remains sturdy and strong the way the men in my life are (I have five brothers, plus my dad and a husband).

For this reason I am so in love with the Hardwood stamp.  The possibilities are endless and in case you missed it, you can see my previous hardwood stamp card right here.  Even after it retires I will NEVER sell it as I do my other retired stamps that you can just happen to see right here.

green

This is a very Quick & Easy card to make too.  Let me explain how I did it.  First, I cut an 8-1/2′ x 11′ in whisper white card stock in half to give me a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2′ standard A2 size card.

Second, I stamped the entire card in Old Olive ink and then stamped three of the Banner Blast stamps on whispher white, and two with White Stazon.  I then punched them out with the banner punch, which you can no longer get for free, but I will be giving my stamp set and punch for free… keep reading to find out how.

Finally, I used glue dots to adhee the banner to the left over Baker’s Twine from a previous project.  It was that Quick and Easy![clear-line]

In a NY Subway

Masculine

Oh how I miss visiting New York.  I’m a West Coast girl who loved living on the East Coast for four whole years!  I don’t mind cold weather… it gives me a reason to stay inside and craft… LoL.

Shoveling snow?  Well, that’s a part of life and a great way to stay fit.  Many have asked what was my favorite thing about New York… I must say I can’t point out one specific thing.  I loved everything… even the people… LOL.  They aren’t rude – just straight forward!

SSSC213This is a new sketch challenge for me and when I saw it, I knew I just had to try it!  Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 213

NY

Lesson Learned:  Don’t ever be afraid to make a card size that is outside your comfort zone.  I very rarely make card that are not the standard A2 size (4-1/4″ x 5″ or vice-versa).  The card base on this oddity is 7-5/8″ x 8″ and once it’s folded in half it becomes 7-5/8″ x 4.

However, I knew not to worry about finding the perfect envelope because once I figure out who I’m going to mail it to… I will use my handy dandy Envelope Punch board to make one with. HA!  The envelope punch is so much fun to use there there are days when I just want to make envelopes all day long… LoL.

Quick true story… during Sale-a-bration (sorry if you missed it), I earned a FREE Big Shot Die-Cut Machine.  It hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m thrilled to know I’ll have an extra one to use during a workshop.  Then again, I toy with the idea of giving it away once I hit a certain milestone in my Stampin’ Up! journey.  Kicker is, I’m gonna let y’all determine what I do with it.  I welcome your comments with suggestions of what you would do with it if you were me.

Facebook LikePerhaps I should give it away the moment I get 500 “Likes” on my Facebook page… hmmmm… now that’s an idea.  My thoughts are churning.

Manly Monday: Owl Be There

I’ve got to say that had one very busy and fun weekend.  Yes, it rained some on Saturday, but it was gorgeous rain and it cleared up faster than the rain started.

I scoped out places to eat near Natomas in Sacramento where I will be attending the premier of Stampin’ Up!’s 2014 catalog on April 28th!  My Circle of Pals and I will be hanging out in that area that day and I can hardly contain myself!

If you want me to reserve your FREE 2014 Catalog please let me know right here!  Please keep in mind, you must not have a current demonstrator to get your FREE catalog.  Current customers are already on my list and you will be the first to get yours!!!  YAYYY!

Masculine

Today’s Manly Monday card is a special one.  It’s one that was made during a One-on-One card class today with my friend Pam.  She’s no stranger to crafts and she’s been itching to come over and make a card.

Masculine

Pam doesn’t have a blog and I would love for you to leave her a comment about her sweet manly owl card.  Thank you so much for stopping by.

Don’t forget today is the LAST day you’ll be able to earn free products because Sale-a-bration ends TODAY.  Click here to get in on the good deals.

Manly Monday: Nuts Over You

Nuts About You

After I made this card I was trying to verbally paint a picture for my friend (Pam) of what it looked like.  Since she was on her way over, I figure I’d just let her see it when she arrived.  When she arrived I reached to the window sill where I had put it last, but it was gone!  I searched and searched to no avail!  As she helped me look for it she asked, “is it a man-card with nuts on it?”

I thought it was funny because unlike normal ladies, I have a dirty mind and I couldn’t contain the laughter that followed for a few minutes.  Did I find the card?  Yes, in the trash can.  What had happened was… I put the card along with others on the window sill… when I opened the window to let in the fresh and so clean (clean) air it was knocked over and into the trash it went.

So, I officially name today Manly Monday.  It is dedicated to my other half.  Who actually (all on his own) signed up to follow My Paper Journey via email about 6 months ago… I think I’ll keep him… LoL.

Nuts Over You

Lesson Learned:  Expand your stamp collection with what you already have.  How?  Use various words to create your own… the way I have.  I have the Designer Typeset Photopolymer set that is no longer available because once these stamp sets are sold out… you can no longer get them.  So when you see one that you think is cute… go get it!

To make my sentiment, I spelled out NUTS and then used a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the words ‘about you’  from the stamp that says, ‘finally a day that is all about you’.  Using words from a sentiment allows you expand the stamp collection you already have!  Woooo Hoooo!!!

SaleabrationI want to quickly remind you that FREE product during Sale-a-bration will end on March 31st.  Who doesn’t like FREE stuff!?… chirp… chirp… crickets… that’s what I thought… LOL

Oh… before I say thank you for visiting me… don’t forget about My Paper Pumpkin!  Thanks for stopping by.

Hola Tarjeta Masculina

Hola/HiPara leer en español, haga clic en la bandera de España en el lado derecho.

I know that as card-makers we tend to make more girly/feminine type cards.  Guys are not into rhinestones, pearls, or ribbon, so we tend to shy away from making them until we absolutely need them.  In honor of all the men in our lives, I have started posting a masculine card at least once a week (if you haven’t noticed by now)… LOL.  You can find last weeks card here. Hola/Hi When designing a masculine card you do not need to continually utilize dark colors.  But you do need to throw in there the macho nacho feel.  Having been raised in a Latino household I know too well the machismo that comes with the male gender.  In all honesty, the Latin men in my life are macho nacho on the outside, but teddy bears on the inside… LOL.  Go on and don’t forget to add a pop of soft color to lighten up this perfect designer series paper for a personalized card for the men in your life. Hola/Hi I’m putting out a call out for local area (Solano County) interested crafters.  I’m offering FREE beginner card-making classes the first Thursday of every month.  But you must sign up here.  I want to ensure I have enough supplies ready for you to learn this fun hobby. You will leave with your own handmade card and will understand the simple creativity of paper crafting.  Learn the paper basics while having fun in a completely relaxed environment. O2_NA-PaperPumpkin_olo_01112014-02102014I am on fire (not literally) for My Paper Pumpkin.  It’s like that hair commerical… I’m not just the owner, I’m a client! This little magical treasure contains everything you need… stamps, ink, paper, and accessories for a quick get-a-way… a thousand times better than Calgon… that’s a guarnantee!  Subscribe today and also recieve a set of markers (valued at $14.95). It’s not a permanent subscription either.  You can start and stop anytime you choose.  But hurry you only have until the end of this month to get your FREE markers.
