Burlap & Blog Candy

*ALERT… PRODUCT GIVE AWAY WITH BLOG CANDY!*

Halloween

Lately, everything has been on the go and I just need to take a little breather, so today I have for you a cute little burlap bag that was given to us at convention as a make-and-take.  Since I mostly like to socialize like a little butterfly and didn’t put it together while at convention, I figured I’d show it to you now.  Isn’t it just so stinkin’ cute!?

Halloween

However, since you can’t just buy it I’m giving you something in return!  Blog Candy… clap clap clap… yay yay yay!  Not only do you get the cute little bulap bag, you get all the goodies below.

Blog Candy

To sweeten the “blog” candy you will also recieve a sample of the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper (cut 6″x6″)… see my previous card with Motley Monsters HERE.  How do you like them apples!?  The picture above doesn’t give you a good image of the spooky stickers, so you can see a better image below.  Don’t get scared now…. BOO!

Blog Candy

To enter to win this cute little package all you have to do is leave a comment and let me know if you like spooky or sweet pretty costumes.  I’m a scary cat, so I prefer sweet pretty one’s…. LOL.

I’ll announce the winner on Saturday, Sept. 13th using the Random Number Generator.  Good Luck!

Give Thanks by Stampin’ Up!

Fall

I love Fall and I love the Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper probably because I grew up in Los Angeles and the only thing I was blessed to see were the leaves turn yellos.  There wasn’t much orange, deep purples, or burgandy’s and I absolutely LOVE color!

Fall

I used the Autumn Accents Bigz Die leaves because I felt that if I stamped on the designer series paper that I would ruin colors of the leaves and I wanted to use the Burlap Ribbon to add a coolness to the card.

Fall

To make the leaf appear more real I used a paper crimper that I purchased from Stampin’ Up! long ago and has since been retired.  But don’t worry you too can give your leaves a textured look by picking up a paper crimper where ever crafting tools are sold.

PromotionThank you so much for stopping by.  Don’t forget to come back tomorrow.

Boo! and a Sketch Challenge

Halloween
I’m not at all a Halloween person, but I fell head over heals over the Motley  Monsters designer series paper! I used portions of this particular design because I loved the piercing hello eye staring back at you.  I can’t wait to mail it to my nephew in Wisconsin.

Halloween

Isn’t little Frankie just adorable? What kid won’t find him not so scary? I know I don’t normally send out Halloween cards, but my little nieces and nephews are gonna get something sweet and spectacular this year.
Halloween

Since I also don’t purchase Halloween stamp sets the little letters think it’s dies were perfect for this card.  The layout is an inspiration by Creative Challenge Club. I’m not sure how long they’ve around, but I love their challenge layouts and I want to help get the word out about them.

Halloween Skeleton from a Pretty Pal

Halloween

Shirley Sumption is the creator of this awesome card!  Thanks so much for letting me know.  Some of the slips that came with the cards were lost somewhere between Salt Lake City and me going through them one by one.

You can find detailed instructions on how she put it together here.

Yet another card from one of my sweet Pals!  Most everyone knows that I'm not into scary Halloween stuff, but I like the cute decorations and this card is one of my favorites.  I'm sharing most of the cards with you as I prepare to redeploy for home because I've already sent all my card-making supplies home.

I thought I would have severe crafting withdraw, but it hasn't been bad.  Between posting my Pal's cards and My Digital Studio… I'm doing well.  I'm really getting to know MDS so much more that a few days ago I posted about my new banner.  It would be awesome if you gave me some color choices in comments below for my November colors.

Pop N Place

Feliz Dia de las Brujas

Halloween

In my culture we do not celebrate Halloween.  There's no such thing as going house to house to collect sweet treats. But what we do have is El Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead).  It's a day were we celebrate the lives of our loved one's who have passed on.

So, on October 31st, we celebrate with our loved one's, friends, and neighborhoods as we come together, pray, and simply eat.  Now, that's what I love… eating!  LoL… It's like a pot luck in honor of those that enriched our lives and live in our hearts forever.

Card Sketches

Today's sketch is brought to you buy Pals Paper Arts #176 sketch challenge.

Halloween

The sentiment is literally translated to read Day of the Witches… LoL.  I don't know why Halloween was named that, but that's what I grew up calling it… kind of funny I think.  Blog-Signature

Ladies & gentlemen, boys & girls… it's all downhill from here… the rest of the cards you will see were made two weeks ahead of time.  Why?  Because I had to ship 99.5% of my supplies home to the homeland sort of speak… LOL.  Yes, I'm having bad withdraw, but I left out a couple Paper Pumpkin kits and I've been working on them one card at a time.  Talk about milking the cow… LOL.  When those are complete I have bought some My Digital Studio dgital stamps, paper, and embellishment and I'll be showing you my card designs.  So, stay tuned because I'm getting really excited about it now.  So, I will not suffer from serious withdraw… I will design my heart away while I wait to be reunited with my paper… =)  Stay tuned on my progress… Yippee Skippy!

Pals Blog Hop: Trick or Treat!

Thank you for joining us for the Pals Halloween Blog Hop. We hope you enjoy our virtual trick-or treat hop where you will either learn great tricks for your creative projects or enjoy a blog candy treat.

You should have just left stop number 2 on the Pals Hop – Angela Curry at Kindred Stampers. If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Hello and welcome once again… today I bring you a sweet little spider that is supposed to be a black widow.  But now that I look at it… it looks like a round cockroach… I'm laughing so hard, I just spit on my screen (go ahead and laugh)… hahaha.

Either way, spider or cockroach… I hate them both.  The only cool thing with this spider is that it's a paper spider.  They are cute and not scary what so ever.  They are fun and easy to make too.

A paper snipped the legs in an L and just glued them to the back of the body.  The body was made with a 1" circle punch and for the red dot belly I used the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.  Stampin' Up! punches are very versatile and have a gazzilion uses.  Is that even a word? LoL

I've Got a Treat to Give!

1StacksMy treat for you today is a brand new Hostess stamp set… Stacks of Wishes.  If you'd like a chance to win, simply leave a comment below by Fri., Oct. 11th.  One random winner will be announced on Sat., October 12th, so be sure to come back and check on Saturday!  U.S. address only please.

If you're signed up to follow My Paper Journey, you will receive an email announcing the winner the moment it is posted.  Winner has 24 hours to email (maggie@maggiemadecards.com) me mailing address, so stay tuned for the announcement of the winner!

May the cards be with you – Good Luck!

Halloween with Teeny Tiny Wishes

Halloween Halloween

I was cleaning up my craft area of my teeny tiny room aka cell… (LoL) the other day and I quickly realized "oh no I have so much paper that retired while it was in shipment status."  So, I decided to make some Halloween cards for my friends.  This first one I put a little left over piece from the current Quatrefancy Collection.

Halloween Halloween

Yes, I wanted to use up some of the washi tape I had because I never used it when I first bought it months ago and I thought, "hmmm, this would look good on a couple Halloween cards.  It is the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape and it was perfection! =)

Since I knew I was going to be deployed over Halloween, I didn't buy any Halloween paper, stamps or paper.  That is why I use what I already had on hand, except the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  I've stressed so much how this little set has everything you'll ever need… especially for beginners or those who are on an extremely tight budget.

Halloween Halloween

Yes, all three cards are pretty much the same sketch that I have so often all over the internet and I like the clean and simple look it gives my cards.  Since Stampin' Up! no long carries the little bat paper punch, I looked around and other demos figured out how to make them, so I copied their idea.

Here's what you do after you punch out the Bitty Butterfly… you take the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and just snip off the bottom portion of the butterfly's wings.  You can also use scissors.  End result: a bat.

WHO WANTS FREE STAMPS?  Butterfly Rewards are my way of saying "THANK YOU" to my customers for choosing me as their demonstrator.  Receive FREE stamps of your choice from ANY current Stampin' Up! catalog or promotion — ANY PRICE!  Read more about my Butterfly Rewards!

Pals September Blog Hop: Fall Flair

Glad you could join us for some fun Fall crafting with the Stampin’ Pretty Pals! You’ve probably hopped over from Diane Roberts at Score at Four and a Quarter, I’m stop number 22 on the Pals Hop and I’m glad you hopped in!  I’ll help you “hop along” from blog to blog where you’ll find great ideas for Stampin’ Up! fall projects!  Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you’ll be back on track

Fall is one of my  favorites seasons of the year.  Why?  Because it’s not as hot outside, leaves turn beautiful colors, and the morning air is a little more crisp as we fill our lungs with fresh outside air.  When searching for a Fall card, this is what I felt and pictured in my mind.  All of the colors in the Regals color pallet remind me of the wonderful colors that we see as we say good bye to Summer.

To create my Fall Flair card I took the 1-3/4 Inch Scallop Circle Punch and puched out three scallop circle, scored them in half and stamped them with the edge of the Forever with You flower stamp.  I took the Apothecary Accents framelit and used one to cut out the sentiment from the Sweet Essentials stamp set.  The final touch was stamping just the tree leaves from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  I have to think outside the box… and use different areas of a stamp to produce different results.

Now hop along for more inspiring ideas from Kris Kilcoyne at Kween Bee Kreations, stop number 23 on the Pals Fall Flair Blog Hop! Thanks for “hopping” by!

Stampin’ Up! a Spanish Sweet Treat

There are many Spanish words that need to be translated.  This one, however, doesn’t need one… that’s because ‘Sweet Treats’ have arrived (LoL).  In honor of what many think of a holiday, I pay tribute to Halloween, which I love to think of it as a celebration of Harvest.  That is exactly what the lovely Hostess Four Seasons stamp set portrays through my eyes.  In a few months I’ll be using it in a different color and giving it a festive feel and look.

I used the Adorning Accents Edgelits to give it a soft pedal look and so it would match the sketch in Freshly Made Sketches #51.  It’s been a while since I’ve entered a card sketch and I had to get back into the groove of things.  After all, creating a sweet treat for myself relieves the stress of the days I spend at work.

I almost didn’t post this card because I thought the colors were too rich and at first it didn’t feel right, but I wanted to represent myself in the Freshly Made Sketches card challenge.  My dad always says, great things are meant to be shared and with his words, I went ahead and posted it.  Hope you like it and giving you a million “thank you’s” are never enough for visiting me today.  YOU took the time to look and read my blog.  You make me very happy.  If you arrived here by accident or just surfing get a treat every once in a while by signing up for my Blog Updates.
