Birthday Club Cards

I joined a monthly birthday card club and each month I get to set three complete strangers a birthday card.  How does it work?  Once you join the club you’re assigned to a team.  You have to read the rules and then agree to follow them.  Basically, you send a card monthly to the people assigned to your team.  On my first month I sent these cards. I plan to surprise one or all of my birthday pals with a special engraved item.  If you’re interested in the birthday club, check out the group on Facebook at The Birthday Club.

How many of you buy the 12″x12″ designer series papers and then up with half or more than half left over at the end of the year?  It’s happened to me more often than not.  But now with making cards for the birthday club, I don’t think I’ll have much left over (LOL).

The Details:

  • Use the Reverse Side of the Design Series Paper.  Stampin’ Up! designs their products so that it all pretty much coordinates.  I used both sides of the paper to use up my paper.
  • Coordinating Colors.  To coordinate the contrasting colors, I used the colors from the main layer used on the card.  How easy was that!?  VERY EASY!

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge – Shake Shake Shake

The most creative endless weeks of Stamp Ink Paper are often the days that get my week started or feeds my creativity.  I don’t make many shaker cards because it’s not my strong suite.  But it doesn’t mean that I won’t try, so I made this for a future #BringingBirthdaysBack card.  Show me one that you have made at the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge.

Join the Stamp Ink Paper challenge and rock this shaker card!

The Details:

  • Use of Framelits to create shaker.  Use a framelit, like a square or a circle that will leave a large opening to give the contents a better view or make it fun to shake shake shake.  I’ve just had a thought (as I type this post), I’m going to try a shaped framelit to make a shaker card….so let me go shake, shake, shake…shake my craft room. LOL
  • Foam Adhesive Strips.  These strips ROCK because they are perfect for shaker cards.  They also give a little bend to create a shape.  I’ll definitely show y’all how to make one this week.

Stamp Ink Paper: Anything But a Card

I’m so excited to show you today’s project for this week’s Stamp Ink Paper Challenge.  It’s Anything but a Card and this project is perfect for this challenge.  It’s NOT your ordinary square box and yo can see how it works below.

The Details:

  • Box in a Box.  I was so excited to make this box after the discovery of a video by Gemma Clarke!  It may look overwhelming, but trust me if I can do it, so can you! It’s addicting and so much fun!

A Rose Card for Mom

My mom had a birthday and since she absolutely loves roses, I thought the giant rose from the Rose Wonder  stamp set was perfect for her card. But what truly added the finishes touches was the So Detailed flower wrap! So easy, so simple to put together, it’s amazingly beautiful! Oh, and yes, she loved it!

The Details:

  • Afraid of Glitter?  Many crafters are afraid of glitter and I’m not afraid of it, but my OCD does kick in when I use it.  I sometimes feel like it’s the plague (lol).  The Red Glimmer paper will not leave glitter all over the place like lose glitter, but it will leave little glittery spots around the card (as seen in above photo).  But nothing to cause your heard to do a 360.
  • Retired Items.  We all keep retired items in our stock and the two items I used were the stamp set (Spanish Teeny Tiny wishes) and the glitter ribbon. What items do you keep that are retired?

Use Host Code above and receive a gift from me when you place an on-line order via my on-line store.  Do not use if your order is more than $150. You will receive additional Host Reward and you’ll automatically receive a gift from me.

Stamp Ink Paper: Card Maker’s Choice #80

Today’s card is for the first Stamp Ink Paper Challenge of 2017!  When I first got the card making bug I sent birthday cards to family and friends.  Then as my life got busy between deployments and military retirement, my side business in graphic design took off like wildfire.  A week or so ago, I posted on my personal FB page that #ImBringingBirthdaysBack in 2017 (hence the watermark).  I received many responses from friends (family is already included) and I got started last month.  This card went to a childhood friend, Jose.  He lived two houses down from me and our families are friends to this day.

Join us this week and show us what your style of cardmaking.

The Details:

  • Stamped Circle.  To get a perfectly round stamped image in the center punch a scrap sheet of paper no bigger than the card base (4.25″ x 5.5″). Place it in the center where you want the image placed and use a large enough stamp that will cover the opening. It doesn’t have to be round you can choose any shape you desire.
  • Boots.  Were colored with Copic markers and two sets of Stampin’ Dimensionals were used to give an added dimension to the boot and background.
  • Just for kicks. Silver metallic thread was added to the back of the boots to just for fun.

Use Host Code above and receive a gift from me when you place an on-line order via my on-line store.  Do not use if your order is more than $150. You will receive additional Host Reward and you’ll automatically receive a gift from me.

Stamp Ink Paper: Tic-Tac-Toe Birthday

Stamp Ink Paper

This was the birthday card I made myself on Sunday (LOL).   I randomly give people I see in the street, complete strangers my handmade cards, but have failed to send them on birthdays.  So starting with my birthday, I’m sending them starting today. =)

Stamp Ink Paper

I remember when we first had a tic-tac-toe challenge, I can’t help but laugh because I actually asked my teammates to explain how this worked. Oh my gosh~it’s still funny to me today.  Uh-Duh! choose the items to win and upload your card on the challenge blog!

Stamp Ink Paper

The Details:

  • Curly Paper String.  To make the string match the basic black border I wrapped a sliver of basic black cardstock on a pencil. Yes, that easy!
  • Stamping Between the Red.  The striped red DSP from Fruit Stand is the perfect height for the Crazy About You stamps to fit perfectly! Choose your words and stamp on.
  • Ballon in 3D.  To make the ballon die-cut pop off the page higher than normal, I adhered two dimensionals together and I loved the way it gave the balloon a big pop off the page!

Stamp Ink Paper: Love

14232041_10153815158103531_6990823276322308668_o

I’m in Love with anything creative and handmade and so is the rest of  the Stamp Ink Paper Design Team.  Today we made our cards to reflect anything about Love and my card is a birthday card to my great-uncle who will turn 69 in a couple of weeks.  Join us this week and show off some LOVE at the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge blog.

Stamp Ink Paper

Sometimes I have no idea what my cards will come out when I’m not using a sketch.  So, I go at it blindly and so far, I’m always pleased with the outcome.  I’m a little jealous of card-makers who can whip out a card in an hour or less.  I totally admire their talent.  This one took me 2 days…oh my.  But, it’s the love I have for card-making that doesn’t matter how long or how little it may take.  Anything made with LOVE is totally worth it.

Stamp Ink Paper

The Details:

  • Sunken Heart Cutout.  After adhering the Playfull Pallette DSP to Basic Black Cardstock, I used a heart from the Sweet & Sassy collection to cut out the heart.  I then doubled up the Stampin’ Dimensionals to add height to the cutout.  The heart with the 69 was adhered to the base first before the frame before the Stampin’ Dimensionals were applied (hope that made sense).  Doing so allowed me to center it perfectly on the base.
  • Tricky Hello Thinlits. There are endless types of glue one can use to apply very thin embellishments, but know that you don’t need to purchase tons of different types of glue.  Stampin’ Up! has the most strongest Fine-Tip glue pen that works extremely well.  No need to run it through another type that requires another gadget. I love it!!!

Pals Paper Arts: Ginger Bread Kiddo

Pals Paper Arts

Welcome to this weeks Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge!  This is hands-down one of my favorite punches and the variety of stamps are amazingly too cute NOT to own!  I assure you this stamp set is going to be one of those craze gotta have sets and I highly encourage you to get it pronto before they run out!  The Designer Series Paper is also another favorite.  However, I plan on stocking up and making sure I have enough to make at least 100 Christmas cards.

I wanted to make the Ginger Bread Kiddo look like he was swinging from house to house and used Whisper White Solid Bakers Twine to allow it to repel across the card.

Pals Paper Arts

The best way to end the week tomorrow is by entering your card into the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge.

Pals Paper Arts: Check Out the Fiesta!

img_1730

Yesterday was my son’s birthday and for the past 20 years I have always made him a birthday card with red as the main color. I wanted to change it up this year and decided to make it a lively card.

UPDATE:  I just realized, I’m a week late and $100 dollars short! After I returned from my 30-day vacation across the United States I seem to have left my mind on the road. Today’s card was for last week’s Pals Paper Arts Challenge.  I better get with the program right!?  Anyway, enjoy the card and I’ll get caught up now!

Pals Paper Arts

The Details:

  • Flexible Photopolymer.  The best feature I absolutely love about the photopolymer stamps is its ability to slightly bend and stick on a block.  I first laid the line stamp on the whisper white and slightly bended it so it would show a very slight curve.  It turned out perfect.
  • Add Embellishments. Often after we finish off our cards we take a double look at them and realize they’re missing a little something-something.  What that happens I pull the rhinestones out of hiding and find a spot on the card to give it an enchanted appearance.  I know this card may seem a bit feminine because of the bright colors, but the boldness speaks both genders to me.  My son LOVED it and he even loved the rhinestones!  Proof masculine cards don’t have to be neutral and without embellishments.

SEPTEMBER ON-LINE ORDERS.  Use Host Code above and receive a gift from me  when you place an on-line order via my on-line store.  Do not use if your order is more than $150. You will receive additional Host Reward and you’ll automatically receive a gift from me.

I NEED HOBBY STAMPERS TO ENJOY THE PALS COMMUNITY!  If your motivation is simply to get the kit and enjoy at least 3 months of demonstrator discounts (20% or more), benefits and resources just for YOU, it’s OK!!  There’s no risk, no obligation to purchase anything further and no penalty to drop!  Why not give Stampin’ Up! and my Circle of Pals a test drive build your kit for only $99 here.

Keep Calm & Stamp On!
Maggie
